Travel Bug question from relative newbie

I read the (limited) FAQ and searched the forums and I know I saw a thread about this before but I can't for the life of me find it. So, here is my question.

I pick up a travel bug. I'm going to move him along on his goal. Later that same day, I take him with me caching to a number of caches that I don't leave him in because they won't help him meet his goal. (He wants to migrate in a specific direction.) Is it bad form to log him in and out of all those caches I visited just to give him the miles? After all, he was with me the whole time.

I will cross-post this to the Travel Bug forum also.

Thanks.

Sure it's fine! This would reflect the bugs travel to it's new home more accurately. Go for it! I'm doing this with the Hiking Boot Bug which I'll leave in a Columbia River Gorge cache...perhaps my 600th Find sometime in early May or late April. I've checked with the bug owner and it's ok with him. I'd ask the bug owner just to make sure.

It's an awesome place to visit!!! I like to go dwon there to fish and hike as well. Check out my website, http://www.evergreenhiker.net for some hikes to do.

As for geocaches, I've done 12 in the area so far...Oregon side that is. I've also done a fair amount on the Washington side. Dan and Janet have a cool Highway 14 series that will keep you busy. As for Oregon, first on my list so far is:

Worthy of a Moun10Bike geocoin I'd say.

The longest hike that we got to do last summer was to up above Multnomah Falls. I was surprised how many tourists were willing to make the hike to the top of the falls. I didn't expect the average person to do much that required much effort. Then I was even more surprised that almost everyone stopped there. I only saw three people from that point on. We ended up going a bit past Weisendanger falls. I'd have liked to go a bit further, but we had time constraints.

I took a look at your list of hikes. I'm hoping to have time to hike the Eagle Creek trail.

It must be nice to live so close to such a beautiful area
