dampeoples
What could I place these in so that people shoving their hands in a box in the woods won't get stuck? Quote Link to comment
+harleycache
hookguards or, you could get some surgical tubing of the right diameter and slide over the hook. Quote Link to comment
+bitbrain
You could use a handmade wooden fishing lure box. Or maybe just a ziplock baggie. Quote Link to comment
dampeoples
Tubing! I've got a whole box of that stuff! Thanks for the idea Quote Link to comment
Keystone
What could I place these in so that people shoving their hands in a box in the woods won't get stuck? Thank you for having the common sense to think of this practical concern. I have seen fishing lures in caches that are packaged in a number of ways: 1. In a little plastic case, like they come in when they are store-bought lures. 2. With the hook firmly sunk into a piece of cork (or styrofoam... less desireable because it crumbles when it's wet or if handled too hard). 3. Without a hook at all! 4. In some other improvised container, like a cigar tube. Quote Link to comment
SunshineSnuz
What about a piece of styrofoam or cardboard taped around the hook? Or if y'all have a Container Store nearby sometimes you can find cool little containers for under a buck that might work, depending upon how big the lure is. If it's just a little jig, I just picked up a couple little plastic containers there for about .59 that would probably work. think they were in the 'travel' section. Or, you could bubble wrap the whole thing and put a picture on it so everyone would know what was inside... (I'd love to see it if you do have a pic, btw! ) Good Luck!! Quote Link to comment
+AtoZ
I tye flies to and I think putting them in a small plastic film cannister or altoids box or some thing where the materials would not get crushed would be best. I now I have left flies and put them in hook boxes. But if you can score some of the cups that fly shops give out when you buy flies that would be great and CHEAP. Cheers Quote Link to comment
+Gizmo & Brazin
What a great idea for a signature item! Do you have a pic you can post? I agree with the styrofoam/cork idea. The cardboard will be harder to use if it's a treble hook, but would probably work fine if it's a single hook. Will they be able to get the hook off easily if they use tubing? Quote Link to comment

Bet they have a ton after July 4 and would be happy to give them to you. Quote Link to comment
+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
You might also get friendly with a pharmacist and ask if he or she will sell you the presciption vials in the size you need. Most will charge (if at all) only 20 cents or so, especially if you show them the lure and explain why you need it. Quote Link to comment

First, I wish you'd come cachin' in my neck of the woods :-) Second, I like your condiment cup idea for flies --would they be big enough for dampeoples' lures? If so, I've gotten a bunch of those from a local delicatessen: they sold me a box of 500 cups & lids for five bucks. These are great for flies because you can see the fly through the clear lid. ../Mosaica Quote Link to comment
+joefrog
Awesome idea for a trade item, BTW! don't they make clear tube that the entire lure could slide in? I think I've seen display tubes of some sort. Quote Link to comment
thorin
Will your lures fit in a standard 35mm film canister? If so just go to your local photolab and ask them for some. Edit: Post of a picture of them if you can...I'm curious. Thorin Edited June 28, 2004 by thorin Quote Link to comment
dampeoples
Hi, it seems I'm not getting email replies, but the film canister would work for my bass jigs, I also take tons of pictures so film canisters are no problem The spinnerbait/buzzbaits will be a challenge, I'll get some pics of them up. +Pobre Rico
Funny you should bring this up! Just yesterday had an incident at a cache involving a fishing lure... Thanks for thinking ahead! Quote Link to comment
