+Quintheeskimo66 Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 I recently started Geocaching. I got started when I got a Magellan Sportrak Map from my work for being there 15 years. I would like to get my Dad into the sport. He has a Garmin III Plus that he got when he retired. (we both like freebies) Is this a good unit for him to use for Geocaching? He currently uses it in his RV when they travel the country. I looked on the Garmin site, but I'd rather get the word from anyone who has actually used the unit for Geocaching. Any tips, suggestions, or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
+Wienerdog Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 (edited) We have used a G-3+ on caching trips for over 2 years now. It has logged 1700+ finds and was just replaced last week with a 60CS to give us the mapping capabilities that the G-3+ lacks. Edited June 8, 2004 by Wienerdog Quote
+Quintheeskimo66 Posted June 9, 2004 Author Posted June 9, 2004 Thanks for the info. I feel better about getting my Dad into this sport now that I know he won't have to go buy anything newer to get started. Quote
Tahoe Skier5000 Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Yes, it's a great GPS. I had one for about a year before I traded it for a GPS V. Very well built, and accurate. Quote
