+geocaching-litters-the-earth
Hi Everybody, I'm new to geocaching and I will be purchasing my first GPS unit this weekend. I've been doing plenty of research and I'm leaning towards the etrex Legend. Here's my question. Do all of the GPS units on the market today support WGS84 datum? I'm not sure if 'support' is the proper wording. Thanks in advance for your help. Edited June 7, 2004 by C*A*C*H*E Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
Yes all GPS units support the WGS84 datum. In fact I believe all GPSr's store information and compute using the WGS-84 datum but will display the answers in the datum of your choice. Quote Link to comment

Kerry.
Yes all GPS units support the WGS84 datum. WGS84 but more precisely in XYZ earth centred coordinates, of the cartesian variety. Cheers, Kerry. Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
Of course, Kerry, everyone knows that. Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
I haven't seen any consumer grade unit display the XYZ format, though. They always convert to something else, more useful, one may hope. But everyone knows that too, I imagine... Quote Link to comment
