+Team In The Box?
Hello there, I hope I am in the right place for my question. I live in Europe, Holland. We go in December on Holiday to New Zealand.. yeahhhh We would like to do some geocaching, but we only have the Garmin Worldmap. Is this enough to find some caches, or do we need more detailed maps. If so, can somebody at the other end of the world help me with that??? Thank you very much..... Best regards Fred Griffioen Freddio@xs4all.nl Edited May 31, 2004 by Team In The Box? +JDHnz
Hi Fred, you need to check out Brent's maps as they are the best you'll find for a Garmin mapping GPS. You should also pay a visit to the forums at www.gps.org.nz where you will find lots of helpful NZ geocachers. Cheers, JDHnz Quote Link to comment
+ssarc
I am very biased but if you like the outdoors make sure you spend a decent amount of time in the South Island Quote Link to comment
+GSVNoFixedAbode
Have a look at nzcaches.tk. It's a great tool for planning cache hunts in NZ via a map. And I'll add my own biased votes to ssarc's for the South Island Cheers, G. Quote Link to comment
Hairy Little Dwarf
I have to add my vote for the South Island scenery. ...And I live in the North Island Enjoy your visit to NZ. Quote Link to comment
kiwitonita
You'll no doubt have seen plenty of good photos of New Zealand but I'll add this site anyway - down the left is a link to their NZ photos. I've been to many of the places shown in the photos and am impressed with the quality of the images: Just Our Pictures And yes, the Mainland (South Island) wins the scenery vote Agreed, forget the horrible Garmin Maps - a very woeful attempt at NZ Maps. +mtbikeroz
Hi guys, Thanks for the advice also - I'll be touring NZ soon, all by MTB from top to bottom, yes, from A to I. The links & maps above are good. Edited June 30, 2004 by mtbikeroz Quote Link to comment
