+CO Admin
I upgraded my IPAQ 3635 to an IPAQ 3955 with Mobile 2003 os. Navman 3240 GPS jacket. I use OZIExplorerCE for topo maps and caching. It works fine on the new IPAQ I have Travroute 3.0 for turn by turn, works on the 3955 but I HATE it. I have Pharos Ostia 6.1 for Turn by Turn directions with Voice prompts. I LOVE it. so of course it does NOT work on the 3955. Pharos tells me it wont work because the navman gps has a baud rate of 57,600 and the Pharos Software wants to see 4800. I am looking for recommendations on Turn by Turn software with voice prompts. Anyone have one they like that will work with the Navman Jacket GPS? Thanks Edited May 14, 2004 by CO Admin Quote Link to comment
+darkeldarcaratunk
Did you try the software that came with the Navman unit? I'm running a navman on an IPAQ 5555 and really like it. It's a bit big in the woods, but it's great to have street directions and voice directions in the car when going to a destination. It has it's shortcomings, but it's getting alot of use. My main decision point was the STAPLES.COM $50 mail in rebate, so the unit ended up costing $150, which I've already gotten my use out of! Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
I think Mapopolis will work with that, it should work with any GPS that can send/receive NMEA sentences. You can try it out for free - the trial maps are good for somewhere between 10 days & 2 weeks, and the program is free. Obvious URL. Quote Link to comment
+sledgehampster
Delorme Street Atlas 2004 Handheld does voice turn-by-turn navigation on the PocketPC. Have also heard the new TOPO 5 is sweet and it will work on handhelds as well. Edited May 15, 2004 by sledgehampster Quote Link to comment

+Renegade Knight
It might be worth your while to strongly suggest that Pharos upgarade thier software to actually work. It will save you money even if they charge you for the upgrade. Quote Link to comment
+JeepCachr
Mapopolis has the best maps for the US along with the best voice turn software that I have seen or used on a PPC. Quote Link to comment
+ShadowAce
I am looking for recommendations on Turn by Turn software with voice prompts. Anyone have one they like that will work with the Navman Jacket GPS? Thanks I doubt it will work on the Navman, but the software on my iQue 3600 does an amazing job for turn by turn directions as long as we are staying on fairly well marked roads. Some of those 4x4 trials can make it go squirly.. Maybe Garmin makes someone like it for other peoples PDA's? might not hurt to call and see if the techs know any behind the scenes info. I have had a fairly good experience with them. Quote Link to comment

That and the GPXtoMaplet software to convert GPX files to pushpins for routing to and from caches is quite nice. Quote Link to comment
