+snaik Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 In the Summer this year i'm going to put caches on the Cateran Trail which is 65 miles long: do I make it 6-7 Traditional Caches a Multi Cache or...................... Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 Traditional. Who wants to hike in and do all but one part of a multi cache and have no credit for a find? Things happen out there and some people may never come back that way again to finish off that last leg. Quote

I agree..If people want to do the whole trail, they can, but families with smaller children etc. can do part of it... Anyway, you will get more 'finds' if you have more caches! Quote
+Firth of Forth Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 That's good news Snaik! You have been very busy cache setting lately! I've never heard of the Cateran trail - where is it? Quote

Blairgowrie to Kirkmichael to Spittal Glensee to Glenisla to Aylth to Blairgowrie, every time i see a hill I want to get to the top, might do some caches at the north end of the Rob Roy Way Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 I agree that it's best to make them traditionals. However, you could also set a 'bonus' multi, with part co-ords in some or all of the traditionals. This cache (unavailable at the moment) is an example of a 'bonus' cache on these lines. Quote

Thanks for that, i have a set of Orienteering Punches that im thinking about using in some way now. Quote
+klaus23 Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 my mate Craigsbar has been planning to plant a series of caches on the now defunct Galway-Clifden railway in Connemara, Ireland. We've had a similar chat about what format to take and I think that we resolved some thing similar to Bill D: that the best thing to do would be to place a series of individual caches, but to place another that could only be found by finding all the others. Given all other scenarios I still think that would work best for a trail/railway/mountain range type 'multi' cache. Quote
+Pharisee Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 My latest cache series works exactly along those line. A series of 5; the first 4 all 'stand alone' and individually loggable but each contains clue to the whereabouts of the 5th. Unless you're very clever (or psychic) you will need to find the first four before attempting to find the last. Judging from the comments of those that have so far successfully completed the set, it works well Quote
