Going Back To A Cache You Already Found Once?

Can a person go back to a cache he already found once.

I ask because the one cache I found someone went to it a couple day's later and left a TB in it.

Would it be right or wronge of me to go and get the TB and place it in another cache?

Who do you think I am, your personal freakin' ANSWER MAN?

Yes, it is generally fine to return to a cache you've already visited, in order to drop off or pick up a travel bug, or to take along a visitor to your area, a new geocacher, or a family member who didn't tag along the first time. Just be sure to log your subsequent visit as a NOTE and not a second "found it."

Also, if you repeatedly pounce on the travel bugs that get dropped in your area, you may acquire the reputation of being a bug hog. Occasionally is O.K., especially since you are new and you are probably eager to move a travel bug. Some consider it good etiquette to wait for a weekend to pass before going back to pick up a bug in these circumstances, in order to give others a chance to find the cache and move the travel bug. It is really your choice, though -- there are few hard and fast rules.

I see the same person left a TB in a different cache that is not to far from me too.

My son and I will try for that one instead of the one we had already been to.

Next ?

Can I take the TB I find and put it in the cache I'm going to place or should I buy a new TB for any new cache I place?

How far away should I try and place the TB from were I found it?

I don't know why, but I sure do want to go get a TB. :bad:

Sure you can place one you found in your new cache ...as long as you don't hang onto it too long.

Doesn't matter as long as you move it.

You can put the TB in a new cache or an existing one, it doesn't matter. You don't have to place a new TB in a new cache.

You can place it as close or as far as you want. Some travel bugs have a mission. If it has one the mission will be on the Travel bugs page. Its preferable to move it according to its mission. Some people race bugs, other people try to send them to certain places.

The most important thing with a bug is to promptly log that you took it, then move it to the next cache in a reasonable amount of time, then promptly log where you put it.

Yes, yes, yes! Make sure you log the bug. It seems that many people have not figured out that you need to do this separately. When you've found one, there is nothing automatic about logging it. You have to go to the bug page and do a whole different log for the bug itself. Then when you drop it off, make sure to highlight the appropriate bug at the bottom of the cache log page for the cache where you dropped it off.

Also, if you're dropping a bug you've found in the same trip, i.e. you find Bug at cache No. 1, drive straight to cache No. 2 and drop it without going home to log on the computer, make certain you write down the tag number, or you won't be able to log the bug.

Sorry for the rant, but there are so many bug icons shown without any actual Travel Bugs in the caches they represent.

OK, now I've gone back and seen that Milbank has already figured out how to do it correctly, but I guess I'll still post this for general entertainment purposes. Plus, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
