+Griff-N-Go Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Hey, just wanted to do an informal survey. Team Griff-N-Go is going to the Orlando area in June and wanted to see what were the must do caches in that area. Basically, I am looking for a top 10 list. There is a catch to this. Two members are 10 and 4 years old, so no 15 stage multi’s or ones that have complicated puzzles. Those are fine at home, but we will be fitting caching in with other vacation activities. We should have a canoe with us, so water accessed ones are ok. Thanks for the help. Quote
CacheMonkeez Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I'm kinda partial, but here are my favorites to do with kids: Monkee Micro Fun Micro #1 Fun with flashlights Quote
+Doombot! Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 How close to the attractions are you staying and how far are you willing to travel? The greater Orlando area is suprisingly big. Doombot! Quote
+Griff-N-Go Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 We are staying at the Sherton Vistana resort. We would dive an hour or two. If there were several good caches in area we would drive farther. Thanks for the help Quote
+dekromme Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 (edited) hi , just tagging along on this topic, we also are in orlando at the end of june, visiting from holland. and looking for some great caches to do we are interested in caches , that are not to complex, but nature multi cache is allways welcome. +95_Camaro_Couple Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I'll be landing in Orlando on the 17th and already planning on hitting a couple of caches at or around the airport. It will be my first visit home since I started geocaching, and I'm extremely excited to start. My destination is actually an hour from there, but there are so many great-looking caches to be found in between. Can't wait to see what others may have to add to this forum! Paula Quote
+Undercover Unicorn Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 My favorite is Bridges Over Fern Creek which is located in downtown Orlando. UU Quote
+suemac Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 I also liked Bridges Over Fern Creek. Other favs were Get On Down (nice little walk on a boardwalk) and Sanford Beach Bum. For challenging, try the Uuh, Seriously Dude series - in a nice park with short walks and long hunts. If you like urban micros the Nano series by Nomad is good and and for a total challenge try Urban Geoflage. I did a run in Orlando several months ago - started in the Sanford Beach Bum area and worked my way over to Winter Park to the Park Ave We See You Webcam cache (another good one if you can call someone to take your picture). You might post a query on the FloridaCaching.com website - I'm sure you could get a couple of phone numbers for cachers in the area in case you have any last minute questions while you're there. +elsinga Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 A lot of the caches mentioned are now archived... Any new suggestions, maybe even close to the Kissimee area I will be staying in January? Quote
+Isonzo Karst Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Elsinga asked for suggestions in Kissimmee. There's a ton of urban micros on State 192 in the heavily "Disneyesque" part of town. If you've had enough of that stuff, try Mother Lode a nice walk in a nature preserve out to Lake Lizzy on the east side of St Cloud (east of Kissimmee). Not too long a walk, but a real change from the Disney stuff. Quote
+elsinga Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I'm not very into the micro scene, but if they are close... Mother Lode sounds nice. 46.7km's from the hotel is doable. And there are some caches on route which look nice too. Thanks! Quote
