+Ed Rad Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Anybody ever try to use your iPod to store cache descriptions?? I wonder how it would work?? Quote
+Latitude 26 Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) Hmm... Other than storing a document file on the iPod, I'm not aware how you could display a file. I have a 2nd generation iPod. I know the newer models can store photos from iPhoto. Just a thought. Edited - Added comments: Found this on iPod site: "Store Text Notes With the notes reader, you can transfer text-based information to your iPod and read it on-screen. Now you can have the information you need — from restaurant reviews to concert guides to news articles — right at your fingertips." Good luck. "Bassmedic" Edited May 5, 2004 by Bassmedic Quote
+sk8rdi16 Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 I remember reading about someone doing this. If there is a way, that would be great!! I will look into it. I also have a 2nd Gen. along with a 1st gen. both 10 gb. Quote
+kgag Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) This could definintly be done, when you are storing the notes on the ipod it is just a text file, you can use the isync area of your mac to do this or any number of 3rd party utilities on your pc to sync the text. Good idea, keep the caching, clues, and music all together. kgag. Edited May 5, 2004 by kgag Quote
tfilter Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 With my 3G iPod, I copy and paste the text from the cache pages right into separate text files on the iPod. Works great and I don't have to worry about paper at all--each cache description is right in the "Geocaching" folder in the Notes section of my iPod. I would be interested in seeing if anyone would develop an application to sync to the iPod straight from geocaching.com ... for both Mac OS X and Windows. Interesting idea... any takers? Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Boy those Ipods sure sound a lot like stripped down PDA's with more storage. In the long run PDA's, MP3 Players and Gameboys will all merge into one device that is just too dang handy. Quote
+dino_hunters Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Yup, here is a program to help you do it fast. Works for some cell phones too. http://toadstool.se/hacks/geotoad/ Quote
