+LETaylor
Click on my profile to see what happens when you have too much time on your hands on a Sunday evening. A geocaching badge, no less! Edited April 27, 2004 by LETaylor Quote Link to comment
+LETaylor
I found a place that will actually make these for you. A bit pricey, but the nerd factor goes right off the scale! Quote Link to comment
magellan315
Where did you get it made and what is their website? Quote Link to comment
+TeamK-9
Where did you get it made and what is their website? It's not an actual badge, it's just an image he made. But you could get something made if you showed just about any major badge making company that picture... Quote Link to comment
+LETaylor
The image is from an online tool to design your own badge. Smith & Warren is a badge company that makes badges for the law enforcement/fire community. I went ahead and "designed" the badge but instead of purchasing it (about $85 as pictured) I just saved the image. Needless to say you would need to be very careful that you didn't use something like this to impersonate a law officer. The laws have always been strict, but in today's environment they'd just throw away the key to your cell. Having said that, I think it is entirely plausible that you could design a badge that obviously is not meant to mislead the public. I don't think you'd have to much trouble with one identifying yourself as a geocacher. It would be interesting to get a center medallion with the GC logo on it. (grin) The company website that I went to is The Fire Store. Click on the "Badges/Medalions" option on the left and build your own! Quote Link to comment
+SnowLeopard
What helmet make/model did you use? All I see are boring black badges. Quote Link to comment
+LETaylor
Under the "build a badge" option choose badges, not medalions. You don't want the shield that goes on the front of a fire helmet (then again, maybe you do. . .) It's pretty straight forward after that Quote Link to comment
+SnowLeopard
Nevermind, I was in the wrong section Quote Link to comment

+Baptist Deacon
Ok, here is the one that I just created. Shame I don't have 87.00 to order me one.....Oh Well, something else to add to the bottom of my wish list..... Quote Link to comment
+SnowLeopard
That site is way too fun! I've already gotten into trouble at work for using it! Quote Link to comment
bug and snake
I can't comment, I have been waiting for it to come up! 35 mins so far. The meter says it is feeding me 3 bytes a second and I have cable!!! I'll try later though. Quote Link to comment
+LETaylor
Non-geocachers will now know that it's an official activity. Now stand back and give me some room! Quote Link to comment
+LeatherKnight
And, now mounting the runway at this first annual geocachers modeling event, is LETaylor!! He's sporting a propeller beanie with the optional rearview mirror, for spotting those caches you just walked past! His pants are pulled tastefully up to his ribs, and in the belt you can see his pager and a waterbottle in a quickdraw holster, just to the right of his fanny pack full of McToys! His boots are made by Haute Hiker, with double traction tread, fully waterproof and also available in powder blue and hot pink! Wait, now here's the topper! In his hand is a Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS handheld, and strapped to the back is a Geocaching badge that he made himself!!! *Thunderous Applause* Heehee, that website is great fun, but lest the silly vision I described above come true, please nobody succumb to buying a geocacher's badge, even if it's just a roleplaying item to use in the bedroom with the wife. After all, where would it end?? With a pair of lavender Haute Hiker double treads (though mine are broken in perfectly, and soooo comfortable!)? Quote Link to comment
+wimseyguy
Now combine that image with a pic of JoGPS Honda GeoElement and you have a complete___________ (insert your own noun here)! Quote Link to comment
+hedberg
How did you save it as a picture? Can't find out how!! Quote Link to comment

+hedberg
I did a snapshot of the screen and did some simple photoshop editing.. Not the best one, but it is okay. Or what do you think? Quote Link to comment

The sad thing is that I can vaguely remember wearing plaid slacks with a plaid shirt in High school (late 60's) Fortunately I now have two daughters and a wife to keep me somewhat in line.
