Closing Threads

Grrrrrrrrrrr.......... and stuff like that!

I came on line today to check out the 'tract' thread. After reading the various posts I sat down to compose. Took absolute ages to put together a response to everything added since last night and then came back to post it. Thread closed!

BWAAAAAAAAAH!!!

OK, I know that's the way it goes but <wink> how about a major change in the forum software that allows timed closedown of a thread! Like a flashing warning saying 'THIS THREAD WILL CLOSE IN 10 Mins!' - Counting down obviously.....</wink>

I have had that happen to me also. I think it was one of Duane's posts (go figure). I was typing out a long reply and lost the whole thing when I press "Add reply". Fortunately, I was able to recover it and email it directly to the OP. It's a shame that no one else benefitted from my unique insight :rolleyes:

No, I didn't get a cOuntdown, but I PM'd Keystone to see if he would reopen it. He didn't think that would set a very good precedent, favoring some posters over others.

I hate it when the mods play fair :rolleyes:

Back on topic, if a thread has been closed while you were typing a reply, it is acceptable to start a new thread to discuss it. However, make sure your new thread doesn't begin by attacking someone from the old thread. You should also put a link to the old thread in so people can see where you are coming from.

In other words, don't start a new thread just to get the last word in.

Sounds like Ox made a good suggestion and it was taken.

Bug and Snake should just hold on to thier comments. The odds are even this will come up again.

I'm glad class hasn't started for me yet. Laughing out loud like I did at the parent and at Keystone's reply would have been embarrasing.
