+Discombob Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 I live in Cape Town, South Africa, which has a reasonable amount of caches, but not huge. I've done almost 50, and have visited most of the caches in my general area, except for a few further out ones. My problem is that when Travel Bugs come to visit my city, they normally end up in caches i have already done. Is it acceptable to revist these caches, just so i can pick up travel bugs, as i do love them so. I always move them on swiftly, and try to take some funky photos to add to bug page. If yes, what is a fair time to wait before collecting a bug, so that others do have a chance to go and get him? Of course, I am adding more caches on a regular basis to add to our cache supplies. Thanks Discombob Quote
+Cave Troll and Eeyore Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 If you can help a bug towards achieving its goal I see nothing wrong in revisiting a cache to pick it up as soon as you see its there. I recently picked a bug up from my own cache in order to move it on. Quote

Thanks Discombob Discombob, If my travel bug ever made it to South Africa. I would love for you to go find it, no matter where it was. Take some pictures, tell a story and let me know all about what is happening in that area. So keep picking up bugs, take their pictures, tell a story, and pass it on. Quote
+bushi Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 I ran into this same situation just today. I found a cache with a TB. It was the first one I'd seen so far. It didn't have one of those little instruction cards (passports?) and I didn't want to take it till I had a chance to find out the requirements. I check the site and the TB just wants to move to as many caches as possible. Knowing that re-visiting to collect a bug is allowed helps greatly. I'll pick it up tomorrow and take it on a little tip! +95_Camaro_Couple Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 From what I understand, it's no problem as long as you log it correctly. Then go back to the page of the cache you took it from and drop a note that you picked it up, but don't claim it as a cache again (will the computer even allow you to do that?). I'm thinking of doing the same thing next month, when I make a visit from Texas to Florida. There are a few TBs in my area that want to head towards the East Coast...it's the least I can do! +Snoogans Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Revisiting a cache to get a TB, is acceptable, because a Travel Bug is meant to travel, hence the name, or they would have been called Cache Sitting Bugs. Sn gans Quote
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 There are those who really seem to care about their tb count and they'll head out to grab a handful of them. I don't mind myself what they do. Quote

I would never do something so fiendish, but i have seen that done before, so the system will allow it. thanks for the feedback. I have a very clever plan on what to do with the next bug I find, so as to make things exciting for the owner! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Quote
+Gas Guys Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 I had been wondering the same thing. I don't care about adding to my TB totals. I just like to move them along. They are my wife's favorite part of the geocaching experience. We were hoping to grab some from a previously visited TB Hotel in the area before we leave for vacation, and now I know that it is OK to do so. Quote
sirbronco Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 My wife and I have revisited several caches to pick up TB's, but also to drop off TB's in a spot that is close and relatively easy for us to get to on a "rainy day." We have, I admit it, logged it as another find so we could place a TB. When you drop off a TB, you have to log it as a found cache, or else you can not log the drop off. So, I see no problem in logging the cache as long as you are helping the TB to fulfill it's mission. Sirbronco Quote
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Keep em rolling. No one cares how many times you visit a cache. Quote
+archuka Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 -- I do it this way -- first i go to the travel bug in the cache -- print out a bug sheet -- take a plastic baggie with me -- put the bug and sheet in the plastic baggie so people know what it wants to do -- if i can help it move then so be it -- or i may just leave it there -- i do record the name and numbers so i can add it to my list (totals) -- then on the page of the cache i make a note that i am just logging it -- after i grab the TB (yes you have to do that so it counts it) then in the log i make for the cache page i add the TB back into the cache -- then i go in and edit (erase) the log in the cache page--!!!!! ya time consumming but doesnt fill up the logs and you got a TB logged--!! archuka---cheyenne, wyo Quote
+bons Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 So the end result is that you've bagged and tagged someone else's TB, didn't move it, and improved your bug count. *puts on asbestos overcoat and runs in fear from this thread. Quote
