Talking To People In Other Country Forums

I would like to speak to some of the people in the German forum, but have not posted there yet, because it say "German Speaking." My German really stinks. I can understand a little, but can speak even less (although I am learning it). We will be in the Verden/Bremen area sometime this summer for about a month. I am still very new to Geocaching, but would like to find out if there are any caches in this area and speak to some of the German cachers. I think Geocaching in the area would make great day trips to see the unbelievable countryside of Germany (Germany is AWESOME! ). This will be our second trip there as a family, my DHs third, so we know the area a little.

 

So, the newbie question is, can I post in English in that forum, if I need info, or should I attempt to write in German and give them all the best laugh of their day? :D

I have posted in english in the spanish speaking forum. I don't see any problem with that. I think the use of the word "speaking" is to identify groups of countries, not to require the use of a certain language.

Go for it. Many Germans speak English.

Thanks to you both! I figured all of this, but being a newbie here (not to online forums though), I didn't want to break any rules or guidelines. I'll go post now!

I can speak some German, but find that most Europeans are bilingual and often speak English perfectly. However, if you want to try your hand at communicating in the language, go here: babelfish It can garble the syntax and mangle idioms, but you will get your idea across...

I post on geocaching.ru (Russia) all the time in English, and they don't have a problem with it...I say go for it, they will be more than happy to answer your questions!
