Here is an interesting article in the NYTimes about how the BM's that show the border between the US and Canada are getting lost due to lack of a budget.

Hmmm.... Sound like something Geocachers in the area could help out with. Maybe these guys need an equivalent to the "Earth Science Corp", a volunteer group of intereted citizens helping out the USGS and others... Maybe not cutting brush, but maybe at least finding, verifying markers, etc. I'd be interested if I was in the area. Grew up in Buffalo NY, but in SoCal now... long commute to the Canadian border. No, I don't want to help on the southern border -- that's a whole different set of problems....
