TeamK-9 Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Okay, so I came up with a cache idea, and basically it'll be sort of a mystery a cache, but in reality, it will be a multi cache. Basically, what I want to do is hide a container full of CDs, people will have to go out, find the CD, then take it home to the computer, and watch a video clip on the CD to get the clues for the next cache, this would go on for a stage or two. Anyway, my question is, does anyone know of any good water proof sealing CD binder type things, it doesn't have to be big, no more than maybe enough to hold 6 CDs or so... Quote
wray_clan Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 boom I don't know if that helped, but I tried... Quote
TeamK-9 Posted April 3, 2004 Author Posted April 3, 2004 Yah, I already search amazon for CD wallets and after quickly skimming, couldnt find anything quite what I needed... Quote
geospotter Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 If you can fit the video clip on a mini-CDR you might have more options. For example, the business-card size CDRs fit perfectly into decon containers. Good luck! Quote
2qwerqE Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 A humble suggestion: Perhaps instead of the burned CD, why not just leave a business type card with a web address on it. Then, they could go home and watch your video clues on your web page. Cheap. Easy to keep dry. And takes up alot less room in the cache. Quote

Team Lyons Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 The business cards are the better way to go IMHO. Quote
TeamK-9 Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 Yah, I guess that could with the file being online or something similar. Quote
Shanediver Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 I wouldn't think CD's would matter if they got a little wet. But then again, I don't know because I have never tryed keeping them wet for any amount of time. Quote
Lone Duck Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Zip lock freezer bags (heavier than the standard ones) are perfect for this, each CD can be in it's own bag which would keep it dry and protect it from light scratches while being transported. Why make it any more expensive than that? Quote
idratherbehiking Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 I would have to agree with the idea of the card with a reference to a website. It would be much easier for the hider and the searchers. Not to mention it would probably save you some $$$$ in the long run. Quote
NightPilot Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 There is no way in Hades I'm going to put a CD that I found out in the woods in my computer. I don't know where it has been, or where it came from, or what is on it. I practice safe computing, as much as possible, and this is a bad, bad idea. How could you insure everyone brought the CDs back to the cache? If even a few don't, you'll soon have a dead cache. A pointer to a website should be fine, though, and accomplish the same thing better. Quote
cache_us_if_you_can Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 (edited) This is what I said: Lots of people don't like putting CDs/disk from "unknown sources" in their computers. This is my point being made:There is no way in Hades I'm going to put a CD that I found out in the woods in my computer.
