Cholo Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Southern Illinois......Big difference from the northerners... What....just because we're not allowed to park our cars on the front yard?
+Lone Duck Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Ahia You non-natives pronounce it Ohio. Now wait a minute! I was born and raised here, never left here (except for a short time while I was in college in Indiana), and I don't say it that way! I did wind up moving out of state and coming back, so I hear the difference when someone local pronounces it compared to somebody from somewhere else. There have also been a couple of Buckeyes who pointed out the pronounciation difference to me. No kidding, a lot of people really do say it that way and don't even know it!
+elpese Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 California some of the time. Confusion most of the time. Oblivious the rest of the time...
+wray_clan Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 Why dont u start a pole? See what happens when you click on "New Poll." Besides, fifty options would have been over the limit anyway, and then you factor in international countries.
+rossinator Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I live in New York. Mind you, I live in Central New York, NOT New York City as many who do not live in the North East do not understand. I am about a 4 hour drive to NYC.
Pipanella Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 No kidding, a lot of people really do say it that way and don't even know it! Yes, I've heard it pronounced that way, too, but my English teacher made a huge deal out of us NOT saying it that way, so maybe it depends on what part of the state you live in.
