HMF4
Does changing the Heading Settings on my GPS V from True North to Mag North have any effect on the accuracy of the routing program? For caching I typically use Mag and would like to leave it set that way... Thanks in advance! BTW - The GPS V was an upgrade from an eTrex Venture - awesome upgrade! Quote Link to comment

Changing from Mag to True or visversa will not alter the routing properties other than the display of bearing and heading. Where it does make a difference is if you are using a magnetic compass to help find caches. You will want them both to read in the same format, usually magnetic. The other consideration is if you will be applying the bearing info from the GPSr to a paper map which is for the most part closer to True north. Then the V should be set at True.
