Obscure Geocaching Stats

Recommended Posts

The most talked about obscure stat is the number of caches in your hundred mile radius.

Let's think of some others and post some links:

The cache with the most claims of initial geocache finds.

The cache/TB with the most watches on it.

The cacher with the most TBs/Hides.

Highest hide to find ratio.

Cache at the highest/lowest elevation.

Hider with the most virts, locationless, events, etc.

Largest/Smallest/Most original cache containers.

Hider with the most archived caches.

You get the picture. What is your idea of an obscure stat?

Highest number of avatar pictures recognized by the forum public as "you"?

Running total of pounds/tons of trash dragged out of the woods and off the beaches?

#of innocent bystanders you've converted to geocachers... countable for up to three "generations" away, if your converts have also converted others?

GOOD ONES!

the cacher who hunts caches the most days in a row. My most days caching in a row is only 7. There are probably those who have geocached every day for weeks.

See Kablooey or see this thread.

An interesting stat that I noticed recently about my own hunting is my success rate when looking for a cache for the second time.

My overall success rate is about 87%. That is, 87% of the time when I go hunt for a cache, I find it, the other 13% I log a DNF.

I have DNFs on 26 unique caches, I've gone back to look for 13 of those. Of the 13 second-time hunts, I've only been successful 8 times, or 62%.

Of the five I've missed the second time around, I've returned to four, and found all four.

First attempt: 88%

Second attempt: 62%

Third attempt: 100%

This came up in another thread I'll re-invent it here.

I would like to purpose a formula for those that want 'it to be about the numbers'. a cacheing SCORE if you will.

((Terrain Rating + Difficulty Rating) * Find Count) - Post Count) = SCORE

Could also include different point values for diff cache types, say a traditional is worth 50 points, a multi 100, a micro -10000000 (kidding, Man I hate micros. Micro people, stop it!)......

Cacher with the greatest distance between finds.

Obscure qualifications:

1:Cacher must have between 20-80 finds. This will exclude the occasional cacher who has found a few in their own neighborhood, and then a few on vacation far away. It also excudes the die hards who travel to cache. :o

2: No LC, virt, or couch potato finds accepted.

3. Cacher must participate in forums to accpet this award. <_<
