+Wal-Mart Man
This is a question for all to get opinions on how to handle a FTF problem. I placed an envelope with FTF (First To Find) written on the front and inside I placed a $10.00 gift certificate to Wal*Mart... The problem is that the FTF person failed to take the envelope. The question is: should I contact the FTF and offer to send the envelope to him/her or should I take the envelope out and place it in the next new cache I establish or just leave the envelope in the current cache for whoever comes across it ????? Thanks for your input! Wal*Mart Man and Aaron [This message was edited by Wal-Mart Man on August 10, 2003 at 09:13 AM.] Quote Link to comment
+team travel pig
I'd probably leave it for the next cacher... Perhaps your FTF was on a Caching marathon and was too rushed to notice. ___________________________________ who's got the pig? Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Nah, leave it for the next person. I've had FTFers leave behind FTF prizes before...some pretty nice ones too, like new GC.COM hats and Swiss Army TOOLS (real ones, not knockoffs). "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. +Renegade Knight
It could be worse. I got a FTF prize a year ago and stuck it in my glovebox. Now I need to check and see if it's still there and send it back to be placed again. Quote Link to comment
+BullDogBob&Double00
Im sure the second finder would be glad to have it. With all the caches with worthless trade items its nice to find something worth having for a change. "WITHOUT GEOGRAPHY YOU'RE NOWHERE....Jimmy Buffett Quote Link to comment
+Verboten
I would leave it for the next finder. There may be any number of reasons they did not take it. Believe it or not, some people have a problem with the business ethics of Wal-Mart and will not shop there on anyone's dime. -Vb Quote Link to comment
+Bilder
Send it to me! I have no probelms shopping there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never been lost. Been awful confused for a few days, but never lost! Wanderingson
Leave it for the next finder. I recently passed up a nice set of binoculars because I already had a few sets. The next guy that came along grabbed them in a heartbeat. If I take the time to look through a cache, then I get what I look for, otherwise I may as well take a pass. I recently almost overlooked a travelbug and didn't see it until I read the log. "I cache; therefore I am" Quote Link to comment
+robert
Leave it for the next cacher to claim it. ~robert Notice: Driver carries less than $20 cache. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Now for the disenting opinion. You could pull the envelope and double the prize for your next cache. These caches are your babies. You make the rules, the plays are all out of your playbook. Quote Link to comment

Enjoy, Randy PS: Around here, I've seen the $20 taken, then the first-finder leaves a $5 or $10 for the second finder! Quote Link to comment

I like being first to find a cache, but I'm not really all that interested in the goodies inside, so I leave those valuable FTF prizes for someone who is. Quote Link to comment
+Team Shibby
Maybe they felt that taking the FRS radio was enough? I say leave it for the next person who may want it. Kar Quote Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
I was the first finder on a cache out here and missed the FTF prize. So did the next 4 or 5 cachers! It wasn't labeled, so the first person to recognize it for what it was got it. Took sun from sky, left world in eternal darkness Quote Link to comment
+Wal-Mart Man
OK I have listened to all and have decided that the FTF prize is for only the FTF and if it is not taken by the FTF I will leave it for the next person (maybe the next person is the FTF the prize, not the cache) Thanks for everyone interest and input... Jomarac5
We quite often leave a first to find bonus -- if the FTF doesn't take the item then it is left for another person if they wish to take it. We usually specify on the cache page that only the FTF can take the item without leaving a trade item -- all others must leave a trade item. If you want to see how we word it on the cache page, look here, towards the bottom of the page. ***** Quote Link to comment
+BigJon
I say leave it. A FTF prize would be cool, if I could ever be the FTF a cache, and if it was left for the second that would be sweet too. Quote Link to comment

Clearly he can't. What I was trying to get at is that he could do what he wants to solve the problem. Make it a Second Time Finder prize. leave it alone, double up the FTF prize for his next cache placment, or delete the log of every "FTF" who doesn't take it when he makes it a FTF logging rule.
