+RockyRiver
I have the chance to get either a Magellan Roadmate 700 or the Garmin 2610, what are some of your likes and dislikes? I have viewed the details on the web pages, but want to hear from owners or other people who know of these units. I have no other units offered to me at this time, so please keep input to these 2 units. I will get them at dealer cost, so price is not really an issue. Quote Link to comment
+NimravusHSSR
Garmin 2620 is out. Map of entire US pre-loaded on a 500 meg Hard Drive on board. Touch screen, remote control, overlapping watermark data fields (full map and data fields overlap, like a watermark). Cool upgrades from the 2610: Multiple Destinations Do you want to find the most efficient route for deliveries or sales calls? Users can enter a series of destinations, and the StreetPilot 2620 will automatically sort them to provide an efficient route. Road Segment and Area Avoidance Would you like to avoid traffic tie-ups or roadwork? Users can specify areas and road segments to avoid when calculating routes. Find Nearest on Route Are you running on empty? This time-saving feature allows users to limit searches for gas stations, restaurants, etc., to upcoming points near a route. Adjustable Road Class Preference How about taking the road less traveled? Users can adjust preferences for major, medium, and minor road categories. Alphawolf
Let's see if this works...I talked about my experience with these 2 a while ago...I hope this is the right thread.Magellan Dislikes and: More about the Magellan Quote Link to comment
+RockyRiver
Alphawolf, I knew the roadmate 500 left alot to be desired, however the roadmate 700 has a built in hard drive with all of the USA and Canada preinstalled already. One of my big questions was the mounting of the two units and you answered it in the other post you made. It seems the Garmin 2610 has a better mounting idea. At this time only the Garmin 2610 and the Roadmate 700 are being offered to me at a killer discount price. I wish they would offer me the Garmin 2620 also, but that aint going to happen since its so new on the market. Edited March 22, 2004 by RockyRiver Quote Link to comment
