Attila
I can't find any in the stores around here. Who has one they can spare? What size are they? Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
I can usually get them at my local Army Surplus. They're about 3" x 4.5". I'll have to check on the prise. What I want to know is a decon box considered a micro or a regular sized cache. Quote Link to comment
CoyoteRed
What I want to know is a decon box considered a micro or a regular sized cache. I'd list it as a micro so people would bring smaller trade items. Quote Link to comment
+IV_Warrior
I've got a pretty good supply, at the Army surplus store a couple blocks from me. I'm heading over, probably tomorrow, to pick a couple up for another cacher. I don't know how much shipping would cost, but if you're interested, give me an e-mail. Last time I was in, decons were about $1 each. Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
I can usually get them at my local Army Surplus. They're about 3" x 4.5". I'll have to check on the prise. What I want to know is a decon box considered a micro or a regular sized cache. It's a bit too big for a micro. I usually leave the size as Unlisted, and explain it in the text. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I agree that they aren't true micros, but I call them micros just so people know not to bring big things to put inside. I used to get them at Rangersurplus.com for $1.20 each, but now they're asking almost $4 apiece. Are they out of their everlovin' minds? I bought 10 off IV Warrior at an event. Now buck each, that's reasonable. Heck I'd even pay $2, but $4 Quote Link to comment
+CYBret
My understanding is that it was a year ago this month that the army discontinued the use of Decon kits of this design. Someone should set up a memorial. Bret Quote Link to comment
+Team Lyons
The stores around us that I've spotted decon containers at sell them for between $4-$6 a piece. That's too steep for my taste. Ya'll are lucky if your getting them for under $2.00. Quote Link to comment

Ferreter5
The surplus store near me sells the decon boxes for $2.99 which is pretty high considering they have a huge bin full of them and they sell .30 cal ammo boxes for $3.99. Go figure. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Our army surplus store sells them for 99 cents. I list them as a micro because when I read the options it's too small for regular and it won't hold much swag. Quote Link to comment
+greengecko
You can order them here for $1.79 plus S&H. Army Surplus Warehouse Quote Link to comment
+Team Ferret
Wow, we can't believe some of the prices people have mentioned. We get ours for $.79 a piece from a Surplus place in Nichols, NY. Mark & Terre Quote Link to comment

+wildearth2001
I really don't think mustard gas or VX or ant of that stuff is something you would normally come accros in the wilderness, notice the "wildernessmanuals.com" Quote Link to comment

Parsa
Do any of those places with decon containers for under a dollar sell them online? I bought my last set of 10 at a one-time sale in bulk. I may need a few more. Parsa Quote Link to comment
RandMan
You can purchase Decon Cannisters from RANGER SURPLUS for $3.99. The word on the street is that due to supply and demand, the price has gone up. They measure 4"x2"x2". Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
You can purchase Decon Cannisters from RANGER SURPLUS for $3.99. The word on the street is that due to supply and demand, the price has gone up. They measure 4"x2"x2". That may be the "word on the street" (actually it was the word I got from RS's customer service desk) but they tripled their price a year ago and I've since found them elsewhere for as little as a buck each. I haven't bought one from RS.COM since they jacked up up their price, but I still have a steady supply. Either 1) geoachers gave them a sudden spurt in sales and they tried to cash in, or 2) they have a very bad buyer. Edited March 30, 2004 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
