+junglehair
The New York Geocaching Organization (NYGO) is currently trying to coordinate CITO events all across the state for April 17th, 2004. We aim to have the most CITO events of any state in the USA. Anyone care to challenge us? A little friendly competition never hurt. Quote Link to comment
+welch
Only if we can borrow about 6dozen of your cachers Quote Link to comment
Cachengrab
Well I am willing to challenge anyone with a population density of approximately 35,000 people. Here is where we stand with our venture. Belleville Ontario CITO Apr. 17 2004 Edited March 5, 2004 by Cachengrab Quote Link to comment
+MissJenn
This is how Pennsylvania looks so far. click: Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
Long Island NY will be having 2 events. One each in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Plus mini CITO cache hunts all over the Island. I'll post the event pages as soon as I finalize everything. Quote Link to comment
+trippy1976
Most events sure... but what about the most trash! lol. Sounding like we've found a real dump this time around! Hoping for another heaping dumpster full. Quote Link to comment
+TaranWanderer
it looks like PA has 4 events on the schedule SO FAR ... http://www.geocaching.com/local/default.as...d=39&submit2=GO Quote Link to comment
+trippy1976
Well, turns out we aren't getting a dumpster. The park just wants us to plop the bags along the road and they'll come later and pick them up. Oh well It was suprisingly hard to find a trashed spot this year. All the parks we talked to were *thrilled* at the prospect... but none were really that dirty!! Good news I guess Quote Link to comment
+Wander Lost
Washington has 4 events scheduled so far. We also had a hard time finding a real trash rich area. Two of our events are a combo Trash out/weed pulling event. In the spirit of the day we are doing what ever the park needs us to do. Quote Link to comment
+trippy1976
We may need to expand into that next year Quote Link to comment
+junglehair
We've run into our share of snags in New York too. The Capital Region was being told they need to have an insurance rider to be able to clean the park. Another park told them they would need a $25 permit. They were eventually able to find a park to have their event at. We had our Rochester event all planned. Talked to the Park Manager and made all the arrangements. Then we received a message from the Boy Scouts that they are doing a clean up event at several of the parks throughout the city that same day, including our park. They even planned to meet up at the same pavillion where we told our people to meet. Since there was going to be a couple hundred of them, we figured it was easier to move our event. We've notified the parks again, and are now waiting for someone to take us up on the offer to clean. So at the moment, we have two events confirmed, one that we need to move, and about 5 more tentative ones. Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
Having some problems with the Long Island, NY events too. I couldn't get anyone to run the Nassau event and now I don't even think I can make the Suffolk county event. Hopefully someone can pull up the slack on at least one of the events. +JMBella
OK. We will have a CITO event on Long Island (GCJ0R9). That makes 5 events for NY. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
I approved Pennsylvania's fifth CITO event this week. There's three on the 17th (Pittsburgh, Potter County and Luzerne County) and two on the 24th (French Creek State Park in eastern PA and Presque Isle State Park in Erie). Still waiting for the Central PA Geocachers to settle upon a final location, which will make six events for the Keystone State. Quote Link to comment
+MissJenn
Get ready for some more competition, NY! Quote Link to comment
Keystone
This thread is about a healthy competition for the most CITO events in a U.S. State, but I just have to be fair and mention that the geocachers in Ontario are KICKING BUTT with five CITO events scheduled so far. The OGA has come a very long way in a short period of time to get organized and put forth a positive image to their parks. A tip o' the hat to our friends to the north is in order. +Cherokeecacher
Texas has 5 planned for April, but only 1 is on April 17. Quote Link to comment
+Wander Lost
Currently Washington has 6 CITO events planned 4 on the 17th, 1 on the 18th and one on the 24th. Quote Link to comment

A tip o' the hat to our friends to the north is in order. Not entirely on topic but OGA is one of our bordering neighbor groups and I have to agree with Keystone. They kind of sprang up out of nowhere and have really come a long way quickly. We share a border and a lot of common caching territory so it's great to see a successful group accross the river from us. Quote Link to comment
compass_bearing_north
Just to let you know, CALIFORNIA HAD 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And NY only has 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
+OurWoods
NY had one CITO listed as a cache in the Southern Tier of NY. Quote Link to comment
+junglehair
Well, NY had 5 successful CITO events, plus one CITO cache placed. Overall - great job everyone! Any idea how many CITO events in total were held in the USA and/or globally? Quote Link to comment

Any idea how many CITO events in total were held in the USA and/or globally? Sounds like Ontario is in a dead heat with NY with 5 CITO events although I think we could claim more than 1 CITO cache placed! Quote Link to comment
+MissJenn
It looks like Pennsylvania had 5 official events and at least 1 traditional cache was placed with a CITO theme and name. I will try to research about the national numbers. Quote Link to comment
