+shunra Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 On Saturday, I intend to take Rosie (almost 6) to HeadLlama's Backwoods Bewilderment, and then to Silverdale for some caches in that area. Hikes are no problem, but child-compatibility and variation are a must. Can anyone suggest a good itinerary? Also, I will probably hit #250 while I'm there. Is there a cache worth dedicating to that special number? TIA for your input! Quote
+Bull Moose Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 (edited) There are a lot of caches in Silverdale, but I don't know about anything "special." The Schold Farm series is probably worth a stop, since it's six fairly easy caches in a real nice park. Cleark Creek Trail cache is a nice little walk on a nice urban trail. If you want to dedicate a couple hours to a hike for number 250, I've been saving either Gold Mountain Challenge or Green Mountain Cache for my #200. Those might be kind of disappointing if it's cloudy, though. Maybe just do the Backwoods Bewilderment for your #250. That one seems worthy. (I haven't done it yet, though.) +Bull Moose Posted March 5, 2004 Posted March 5, 2004 I just did HeadLlama's Valley of Despair tonight. Highly recommended. Might be a little rough with a little one, though. Quote

+Perrin Posted March 5, 2004 Posted March 5, 2004 (edited) Green Mountain is a must. Very nice hike. Hope your 6 year old is up to it. All of Bullmoose's suggestions are great. If you can get your hands on the TB for Ajetpilot's Lockbox cache that could be pretty fun. Well assuming you were wanting to go into Bremerton. Edited March 5, 2004 by Perrin Quote

Since I want to end the day with the N.A.D. night cache, I'll be coming towards Bremerton anyway, so if the weather won't allow for Green Mountain as a #250, I don't *need* to find a cache to celebrate the event in Silverdale, and I might as well go for a Bremerton cache. +KB5VFM Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 Thanks for the comments on my Green Mt Cache. I need to get back up there and add a few waypoints to make it a bit easier for the beginner. These will be hints as to exactly which trail leads to the correct summit. I know I'd really hate to take the wrong one and have to do another one. I pretty much grew up on that mountain and know it rather well, well that was before all the various roads were added. I want to make it to the Gold Mt. cache soon, hopefully it will be nice next week and then it'll be a go. Dennis Quote
