mgabel Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 From the Gramin site: Accessory 010-10277-00 A/C PC adaptor for the 60C/CS has a "9 pin D" connector for the PC. I'm rather sure that's a serial connector. Has anyone found an A/C PC adaptor that connect A/C with the GPS and a PC using the PC's USB port [my laptop does not have a serial port]? Better (for me) - what about just a pure A/C adaptor for the 60C/CS - one that just connects A/C to the GPS (without the extra plug for a PC). Thanks. Quote
Vlad Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 (edited) sure... ac/pc adapter (sorry serial only but you could use a serial to usb convertor) is part number 010-10277-00... just use the power connection of this cable and not plug in the serial cable to your pc - and then just use the usb cable you already have Edited February 21, 2004 by Vlad Quote
mgabel Posted February 21, 2004 Author Posted February 21, 2004 Yes, that works, but I'd rather not buy a $44.00 item that uses half of what it is designed for. Was hoping there was a third party solution at half the price and half the size. Quote
+Hemlock Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 The 60C/CS gets 30 hours of use on a pair of AA batteries! Don't worry about AC power for the few minutes you're plugged into the PC. Just get a set or two of rechargeable batteries. A car adapter for providing power during those long driving trips is much more useful. Quote
+GeckoGeek Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 There's always a nice selection of GPS cables here. But I don't know what kind of connector the 60 takes. Quote
+GOT GPS? Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 (edited) It would make sense to buy only a power cable, and that keeps the backlight on also. I noticed that the gps defaults to Light aways on with the cigarette lighter cable. Also use a USB cable between GPS and laptop. The same cables for the GPS V, also works for the GPS 60C Edited February 21, 2004 by GOT GPS? Quote
+GeckoGeek Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 The same cables for the GPS V, also works for the GPS 60C Then GPSGeek is the place to go. I think it's about $15 to get a cigarette adapter cable delivered to your doorstep. I've bought my cable there and I'm quite happy. They do sell AC adapters, but unless you're trying to measure the drift of your house, I'm not sure what the point is. The 60C has the USB connection for loading maps, so you don't need to be connected to a computer for that long. And the 60C doesn't recharge the batteries. Quote
