Utah cache register
I am fairly new to the geocaching sport and finally picked up an interface cable for my Geko last night. Any suggestions on some good software (any type) to make my geocaching adventures even "MORE FUNNER".... I'd also like to start using my Clie to keep track and organize my geo info. Any software to avoid??? Thanks, UCR Quote Link to comment
GeckoGeek
1) Get a premium membership so you can request Pocket Queries (PQ) in GPX format. (Request it to be sent in ZIP format to avoid problems.) 2) Get CacheMate Some like Spinner/Plucker or even GSAK/Plucker, but I think CacheMate is a good single starting point as it will allow you to record your logs which Plucker can't. +tirediron
What GG said! I use a Clie w/ Cachemate alond with my eTrex Legend. It's (IMHO) the perfect paperless combo. Inexpensive, light, and more info than you will need for a week of 'caching! Quote Link to comment

tjej
Another "what they said". I have the same combination and Cachmate IS the solution. Quote Link to comment
embra
OK, I *don't* have what they said, but I agree with 'em anyway. Although I prefer GSAK and Plucker and a few other applets for the particular features they offer, I think CacheMate is the best starting point because it is a simpler way to cover your bases. Many people seem to find it not only a good start, but a good place to dwell within. Quote Link to comment
VentureForth
So long as you have an interface cable, you may want to consider Mapopolis Platinum +GPS. It's around $50, and if you get the CD ROM, you will have every county road available. Of course, you can only install as many maps that will fit in your RAM at a time, but it will make for a great moving map display to compliment your Geko 201. Let me know how your setup is working. I just bought at Clie T665C and am considering buying a Geko to replace my old Handspring Visor setup. VF Quote Link to comment
