+shunra
I just wrote a note for This BM. It appears as if in Poulsbo, WA, but according to it's official history its near Lake Washington, a few dozen miles to the East, on the other side of Puget Sound. Am I wrong here, and if not, how could this have happened? Edited February 18, 2004 by Shunra Quote Link to comment
DaveD
What's wrong is you have the wrong station COLEMAN. You've printed the description and recovery information for COLEMAN (SY3607) while comparing the position for COLEMAN (SY5126). It's not unusual to have stations with the same name and date in a given area. Quote Link to comment

It needs to be looked into. Quote Link to comment

The conflicting datum and history is all on that page - I just noticed it as I browsed by while logging another BM in the area. Rogbarn, you say it needs to be looked into. Is there something I should do other than writing that note? Or could you, as an experienced BMer, pass on the info to whoever needs to know? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+rogbarn
Rogbarn, you say it needs to be looked into. Is there something I should do other than writing that note? DaveD needs to reread the situation and check SY5126. Only someone at NGS can correct this and he is our contact. Quote Link to comment
+GeckoGeek
I'd sure like to see what becomes of it. I've got a disk that blocks away from where the description says it's supposed to be. Quote Link to comment

What is the PID? Are the coordinates accruate (or perhaps scaled)? Let's take a look at it.... Quote Link to comment
DaveD
I have pulled the data sheets for both SY3607 and SY5126, plotted their positions (both well determined) and followed their respectiive descriptions. The published positions and descriptions for both stations fit just fine. Quote Link to comment
+rogbarn
I have discovered the reason for the confusion. SY5126 as listed on GC is incorrect and contains, at least in part, the description for SY3607. It appears that this was corrected at NGS after the datasheets were copied to GC and the current datasheet on NGS is correct. DaveD, I'm sorry for implying that you needed to fix this, I didn't realize you were looking at a datasheet that was already corrected. Quote Link to comment
+shunra
Is the info on GC obsolete, then? Quote Link to comment
+GeckoGeek
Is the info on GC obsolete, then? A few years old at least. Quote Link to comment
+rogbarn
I think the datasheets on GC.com were obtained in early 2002. That would put them two years out of date. It would be nice to have a direct link to the NGS datasheet so you could easily lookup the current datasheet to see if there are any changes. Quote Link to comment
