+rooboy
I'm planning a trip out to Mt Rushmore in the summer, and was wondering if anyone could reccommend any "must visit" geocaches in norther Nebraska or southern South Dakota? I will be driving from eastern Iowa. Thanks for any help RooBoy Quote Link to comment
+bigredmed
There are a bunch near Valentine that are in a really unique part of the world. Look for caches placed by drusso. Quote Link to comment
+welch
While out at Mt. Rushmore, I would suggest you also visit Crazy Horse Memorial. Its a work in progress but very interesting! To be on topic, I've only found two caches in Nebraska. One was by an Air field marker on Highway 20, and the other "Double Tree", on part of the Cowboy trail (which is in the Valentine area ). It was very nice, though a bit dry . Quote Link to comment
+The Northwood Goonies
What route are you taking out of Iowa? Are you coming up around the Mason City area? If so and need a stretch break there are 4 in Worth County, plus there are 2 just north of Clear Lake along the Interstate. On eat the south bound rest area and the other across the street in the north bound. Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
If you plan to be in Kearney area before heading North, I think Platte River Run is a must do cache. I doubt that is on your route though? Quote Link to comment
Ted's Trekkers
I live near Mt.Rushmore. I suggest the following: A short HIKE-lots of rasberries Boulder Hill - great view Bighorn#1-great veiw& bighorn sheep Doty Springs-beauty tucked away Hoochers Hideaway-deep forest serenity Hope you enjoy your trip. +Doc and the Gals
If you are going through the Yankton area, I would hit up B-Y Water District because it has a really cool abandoned chalk house and Gavins Point for the outstanding views. Have a great trip! Quote Link to comment
