+Egnix Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 (edited) Since the stats aren't available yet, I thought I'd let y'all know that Cannonball Racer04 is currently in the lead. I'm working as fast as I can, hopefully we'll have something soon... Edited April 12, 2004 by Egnix Quote
+Sanruft Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Sn gans I must be looking at the wrong link as there are no travel bugs listed (Or updates)...Can someone please post the correct link? Thanks a bunch!! Here's what he's talking about. Remember this includes all the bugs including non-2CBR'ers. As always, thanks Bill for the update! Not sure what we would do without ya'! Quote
+Egnix Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 (edited) Until the official site is up, you can check out this for stats and a map (though the map is a bit of a mess with all the bugs in one area right now). Edit: Results may vary as I'm still working on things (so don't be surprised if you get empty files, etc.) Edited April 13, 2004 by Egnix Quote

+junglehair Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Six of the seven bugs left at the starting line are cannonballers. I wonder who is gonna get picked up last??? Sn gans And one of those six is my Invincible Iron Man travelbug. I hope he fares better than my Captain America did last year. I have updated a few things on the Official Cannonball Run page. It now lists the destination cache. I have also posted the stats manually for now until we get the automated system up and running. Good luck everyone! Quote
+Green Achers Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 I find this so strange... we did talk to everyone about quickly logging the racers and I know they were all picked up. Maybe it was a busy weekend and they'll take care of business before next weekend. Otherwise, I'll send everyone that attended an email. All reacers will be in the race this year!!! BTW, regarding my playful comment earlier We look forward to watching this years race and hope to move a couple this year as well... I have no entry this year and have completed my official roll... now I get to help (or mess with) your racers. Now, where are those rules again?? I found those rules at the beginning of this thread and found out we can't mess with the racers this year... we can only help them along. So I'll be kind and good... this year. Quote

+Green Achers Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 (edited) I'll be mailing out informational inquiries tomorrow to most all of the attendance at the start line. It is my intention to get every last racer properly logged off of the starting line! I thought we had properly educated everyone but it looks like six cachers need detention. BTW, We have the prestart logs all corrected now. All racer mileage should be true. Edited April 17, 2004 by Green Achers Quote
dwgogo Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 WOO HOO!! Our Blues Mobile was just logged into a cache in Nevada!! I was finally changing instructions on the racers' pages (west to east) and the log happened while I was making the changes! I haven't been able to keep up with this too much until today - chemotherapy had me tired & foggy when the racers finally took off from the starting line - but I'm feeling fabulous today! The site seems to be really busy right now, but I am not sure that the link I have posted for the Cannonball Run webpage on my racers' pages is working right. When I clicked on it, it took me to a "not found" page. How can I change this to take people to the right page? Thanks much and have fun everyone!! Quote

djsti1es Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I see that Missouri Monster Machine made it to Tucson, AZ.. is this the current leader? A few are nearing Reno and a couple are in Vegas (Striped Tomato & Not a Yellow Jeep). Quote
+Green Achers Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 M cubed is going to have lots of company... 5 weeks to go to start the Navigational Rally and it looks like a bunch of us are heading up there - Racing Travel Bugs in tow, likely. I'll be looking for any slow bugs as the off road event gets near. Also, 3 more racers made it off the starting line today. Wowho!! If the last two get going, we'll have a race. Quote
+Cow Spots Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Well I picked up the Cannonball Run Transporter TB today and MMM is within my reach. A buddy of mine and I may take it to New Mexico soon, or possibly El Paso, Texas if we're in the mood. NM border is less than 2 hours away from me. Quote
+KSWader Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Our Big Green Mean Machine TB was not found in the cache when it was visited on April 15. We are hoping it is being taking on quite a long trip and will get logged and be in the lead! Or we will get the award for the first one to be muggled! The other Cannonball TB that was in the same cache was also not in that cache. Ed Quote
+Green Achers Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Muggled?! Not likely. According to the log, and I quote ...we ended up picking up the "I-Hop" travel bug instead ( we think). The last written log mentioned that he was placed there... the ''last written log'' has not entered the find yet but must have made a trade. That makes sense and they will do so soon. It's my guess it was a traveling cacher from... ah... New York and they're taking the races dirrectly to the finish line. But that's just my guess. Quote

+Snoogans Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Hi, How often will the Cannonball Run website be updated? My own recon shows several bugs in "Lost Wages" and at least one that is half way across Arizona along with the TB Transporter. There's no pics from the event posted either. Just wondering..... Quote

Sorry, you can blame me for that one. Between work and NYGO stuff, I haven't had much time lately. I should have a bit more time now though, and I apologize for the delay. I plan to update the Cannonball Run page soon - right after I work my way through that pile of laundry and dishes (not all in the same pile). Oh heck, they can wait a bit longer... let me see what I can do about that Website. Quote

+Egnix Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Are the stats being updated periodically? Or is that on hold in hopes whatever the problem is, will soon be fixed??? The way it's supposed to work, is that my little program thingy will run on it's own every so often (prob 1-2 times a day) and feed the database at the official site. But I stiill need login info, etc. for the db (and I think there are some other db issues). So in the meantime, I've been running my program by hand and uploading my stats page once a day (though sometimes its in the morning and sometimes its at night). Quote

+KSWader Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Maybe I still have hope then! I am in 35th and dropping! My bug was placed April 11 and then when someone came by on the 15th to pick it up, it was gone. +NWscout1 Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Grrrr... I think that cutiness thing got us. Our KC#3 went from 8th to 46th place. It got taken from a cache in NV back to the CA coast, twice the distance in the wrong direction! I've got another TB racer (in the US race) also stuck in the bay area. We could sure use a "Snoogan's leap" here! At least our second racer DF#12 is still in NV. Quote

I would help any other competitor's bug as far as Houston on my return. If that's Kosher???? (And of course, if I actually find a Cannonball Run TB.) I would go outta my way to get the TB Transporter. The Bay Area is always on my list of stops. (I hope your bug's not still trapped there when I get there.) If I do find some racers, I know at least a couple quick caches in every state on my trip and I DO have past experience with this race..... (C'mon good Karma!) Quote
+NWscout1 Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) Win? Lose? Not the issue. After seeing travel maps from other TB races, we were thrilled that our TBs got out of the starting state. +Evil Chicken Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Sailorscodgers & TeamSpaz Thanks again to you both for the assisting the Evil Chicken Space Age Van along the way! It is much appreciated. Sailor: keep diggin' those fossils. Spaz: Hope the Jazz Fest is going well. As for heading a little out of the way, we here at EC 5 Headquarters (while we are fond of traveling east) love to hear reports from the Van's extended Pit Crew, whatever direction that 6 wheeled wagon may be heading! Take care and thanks again, Evil Chicken, Mother Hen & the Three Chicks Quote
+HappyFrog (& gang) Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 So, is there a consolation prize for being last? I don't think we have much chance of anything else now... --Marky Marky there are 12 racers that have not moved since the dinner. Of those 12, 2 (one being yours) have not been logged in. Maybe a new cacher came to the dinner and placed it in a cache within 100 miles of the dinner, of course you need to firgue out which cache. Don't give up hope. Just make sure you show up to May's dinner and ask everyone if they have seen it. It still could show up. I had a travel bug lost once for 3 months, a new cacher picked it up and took it to Montana. The travel bug is now sitting on top of a mountain at a 5/5 cache waiting for the snow to thaw. At least it isn't lost, just not moving. I'm sure that someone has it or dropped it somewhere. Quote

I am really racing myself and hoping that mine gets to the finish line. I really don't care if I win or lose. I just want mine to finish by next March 05. My son's racer is in 6th place and mine is in 28th. He states he could led now, but we need to see when the race gets closer to the end. I am traveling North on the I5 to Oregon in June, then I will be traveling east to Washington DC, in July. If anyone would like their TB hop a ride with me I will pick them up if they are easy to get to as I am passing near their bug. I will check and see what racers are in CA before I leave. Quote
+HappyFrog (& gang) Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 (edited) I got the following message by email from Saito - aka Orange Hippo: Went to move your travel bug from the GBES hotel in Reno - looks like someone else beat me to it - it's not in the cache - good luck with your race. So I went to check out the webpage: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a3-529866344b10 And found the following replies: May 2 by Sir Scruffy (5 found) Came looking for bugs, found only one cute little orange one looking for a frosty mug. I bet this one would be beautiful at night. Left dragon stickers, took a beer coaster. May 2 by Saito - aka Orange Hippo (101 found) "dropping" this bug off to log it's location from where I actually picked it up! April 28 by dillydallymore (17 found) About 10 am in a howling windstorm our team stopped at GBES TB port and dropped 3 cars that are racing East in the Cannonball Race II. On their way: Grampa Campbell's Cannonball Racer, 70 Charger Dodge and Cannonball Run 04 Road Racer II. Sorry for this late posting. So missing from this cache are are 4 Cannonball Racers: Grampa Campbell's Cannoball Racer, 70 Charger, Cannonball Run 04 Road Racer II, Triumph 600, & My Lucky Day. I hope that all 5 racers are headed east and no one has logged them in yet. Good Luck to all. So tell me... which of these two racers do you claim? The M&J Racer (Marky) Fitz-N-Giggles Cannonball Racer (Ellenbarger Crew) Since that's the only two racers stuck at the gates - stolen likely - I'm confused. If you're basing this on the official stats, that would explain things as they're not current. Please explain. Quote
+Team GeoDillo Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Rule question: The rules say "states must share a common geographic border". I'm assuming that any two states that touch, even at a corner, are considered to be sharing a geographic border. Specifically, bugs that are traveling through Arizona should be able to move directly to Colorado, and bugs that are in Utah can move directly to New Mexico. These are acceptable moves...right? I think the "4 corners" region is the only place that this comes into play. Quote
