+Team GPSaxophone
You might want to try Ebay. Retail price for the simplest GPS is about $99 (Yellow Etrex) Quote Link to comment
+supertech
A small note. When placing caches, you can get by with just a basic gps, but for best coordinate accuracy, you should consider using one of the newer GPSr units that has differential capability. If you DO use a simple GPSr to place the cache, consider asking others to contribute their gps readings while standing over the cache. Then you can average all the readings and update the location on the cache page. IE: if a simple GPSr is getting 20 ft accuracy and someone comes looking for your cache with their simple GPSr with 20 ft accuracy, they could possibly be 40ft from the cahce and get a dead on reading. so, the more GPSr readings you get, the more accurate if you average all the readings. I did this with my first placement. I visited the location 3 times and took readings every ten minutes for 30 minutes. then each visit was at a different time of day. Then I put all the points in my easy GPS software and used the reading gotten most often as my point. I believe this method helped me be more accurate since I don't have a differentiol GPSr. Quote Link to comment
