thujaplicata
Okay there have been quite a few posts regarding the 60c/60cs altimeter compass debate....What I dont understand is if the 60c does not come with an altimeter will it still give you an altitude based on the satellites? As far as PPC's go...is there anyone who is using a bluetooth gps unit for caching and are there any that have WAAS? I have a Ipaq 5555 and am just wondering if I should use the Ipaq and get a bluetooth unit or wait for the 60cs....Thanks for the help..... Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
As far as your first question, certainly. The 60c works like any other unit. I can't answer the second. Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
I've had the iPAQ 5555 (I'm now using a 4150) and used it in conjunction with the Socket Bluetooth GPS. http://www.socketcom.com/product/GP0805-406.asp This set-up works great for driving in the car but the Bluetooth GPS only runs about 4 hours per charge and an iPAQ with Bluetooth turned on will only give you about 4 hours. A stand-alone unit like the GPSmap 60C has the advantage that it runs much longer and you can carry extra batteries with you. Quote Link to comment
+Joske
A stand-alone unit like the GPSmap 60C has the advantage that it runs much longer and you can carry extra batteries with you. And it doesn't crash as frequently as your PPC... Quote Link to comment
+EtrexRose
Garmin 60c is 10 times better then a PPC/BT combination such as the HP2210/Holux w/ waas BT gps setup I used to have. If you really need reasons why let me know, but the 60cs tops it, even the auto routing is much better then ANY you could get for a PPC. k? Quote Link to comment
clintb
I have an iPaq 2215 w/512MB CF card and Socket Bluetooth with their My Navigator software. I love that combo for autorouting/poi type stuff, but wouldn't think of using it for caching. Paperless caching, yes, but not as the GPSr. For those duties I use my 60cs. Quote Link to comment
