nateminy Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 Anyone know which bench mark at Tom Hauk mt. is the one in the highest altitude. Quote
+Stunod Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 According to THIS SITE, the point is on Taum Sauk Mountain. Quote
nateminy Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 (edited) You're right. I had the spelling way off. Well, after much searching through the bench mark list for that area, I think I finally found the highest bench mark in Missouri! But after reading the last report on it, it makes me a little skeptical if I should go find it. Please read this and tell me what you think: hc1044 Notice that the mark is only 4 ft from the highest spot in the state. This would be awsome to be the first one to find it, if it still exists. +trippy1976 Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Well... I wasn't thinking "benchmark" for "Bm" Someone feel free to warn me, but it had to be said Quote
Know Future Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 Notice that the mark is only 4 ft from the highest spot in the state. This would be awsome to be the first one to find it, if it still exists. I'm not optimistic about your chance of finding this one. Here's why: Go to Missouri's Highest Cache Look at the last image in the gallery. You'll see that the point in question is marked with a granite slab about 3 ft square. Everything around it for the next 5 ft or more is concrete or crushed rock. I think it's gone. Quote
Dorkus&Co. Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Even according to the government, it looks like it was tilled up. I did look for it briefly, as there is the cache nearbly. You can still log this one HC1045 which is right nearby and still easily accessible. Quote
