Crucial at www.crucial.com sells SD memory cards. I have used Crucial for several purchases with absolutely no problems. They are currently listing a Lexar 64MB SD card for $38.00. At work we use Lexar cards in our cameras with no problems.

Lexar is supposedly a good brand. Try A local office supply store when they have a sale. I just bought a Lexar 256 mb sd card for $49 at Officemax. On sale for $79, minus $10 with a coupon, and a $20 rebate. Sweet!

 Costco and Sams Club sell them in the $45-50 dollar range as well for the 256Meg. Unless you plan on adding street maps, or terrain maps to it, you really don't need the memory. I have a Meridian Gold and I use the standard on board 16M memory. The meridian aready comes preloaded with general city maps so it all depends on what you want.

Lexar is a rebrand. There are only 3 manufacturers of SD cards - Panasonic, SanDisk, and Toshiba. Any other brand is a rebrand of one of these. Panasonic has by far the best reputation, and SanDisk the worst. The SanDisk problems are only with the larger cards. Toshibas (I have one rebranded by PNY) are slow on writes, but work OK otherwise. I use mine for holding maps for Mapopolis, since they don't change, and don't need to be written. My Lexar rebranded Panasonic cards are much faster, & I use those for everyday use in my Palm, where programs need to write to them regularly. If you can, get a Panasonic. Panasonic brand cards are generally more expensive, but you can find rebrands often, and Lexar seems to use mostly Panasonic, but some SanDisk. There are people who devote hours, days even, to trying to find out how to determine the manufacturer of cards, but the only way I know of for sure is to put it into a Palm. The Palm will tell you the real manufacturer. For a Magellan, it really shouldn't matter that much - any card should be OK, since you don't write to the card that often, and if you use a card reader the write speed is moot anyway. I have no experience with Magellans writing directly to cards.
