Wil Wheaton Geocaches?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So I am casually reading the forums when I come across a mention about a bug sent to Wil Wheaton (Wesley from Star Trek). Now I knew he was a big Geek but also a Cacher that is great!

Anyone ever run into him or know what his caching user ID is?

Here are links to his site:

Removed link because it got replaced by inappropriate content.

Well, if you really need to know, look at his page, follow the link to the cache he found on the 4th, then look at the logs to see who found it that day.

How nutty. When ST:TNG started I was about the same age as Wil Wheaton was, plus my first name is also Wesley. The other Wesley from TV was that little punk off of Mr. Belvedere. Oh well.

"Shut up, Wesley!"

What a great bunch of responses.  No wonder the guy has so few logs, what with all the encouragment in here.

He's got pretty thick skin as evidenced by His website. Besides people have been pretty kind here considering the slag Wesley gets elsewhere on the web.

I thought it was pretty cool that Wil Caches. :)

Two things...

Thing1.jpg

Wil Wheaton takes far more abuse online than anything put into text here at GC.com. He even commented before on how nice people were here. Markwell

If you ever read over at slashdot, you'd see some of the great :) posts anonymous and semi-anonymous people make in response to Wil's posts.

and...

"Shut up, Wesley" is a line from Star Trek on this hilarious episode where Picard is busy but Wesley puts in his two cents and gets verbally abused for it. His mom also echoes the line... I figured someone you know must have said it before in that context...most "wesley"s get it in their lifetime. Welcome to the fold, you will be assimilated. It's just a joke.

One of those links sends me to see some hoo-ha's! (Good job, Doombot!, real mature.)

Yep - my IT supervisor must be wondering why I'm at THAT site.

(Honest - I was just looking at Wil Wheaton's gallery...)

It seems that someone has hijacked Wil's gallery page....it's too bad this is so low on the page now, but I would suggest the original poster (and anyone quoting the gallery link) should edit that out for now until he fixes it).

Duh! I knew that! :)

Isn't that line in the epsode with the first apearance of Lor?

I read his daily blog. He's sounds like he can dish it as well as take it. That's a thumbs up in my book.

His personal site is Wil Wheaton.

The TB that was sent to him was brought to him by another chacher (ie not the bug's owner) at a book signing and he autographed it. He likely didn't think to write down the tracking number to log the bug.

EDIT:Ooops! Halden already included the homepage link.

Which movie is this?

it wasn't one of the movies, it was a next generation episode. the one where riker brought back the game played with the "eyeware" that he got on vacation. everyone got hooked on it when they played it. the affect was like a drug.

Oh I remember that episode. It was a pretty good one.

Fun show I enjoyed it and enjoyed every star trek movie Shatner didn't direct. :)

oh, c'mon!!! there is kind of sick fascination when you watch it. it's like watching a trainwreck. :)

Remember the generations movie where Shatner finally actually dies. He got a standing ovation in our local theater. I was first to my feet :P

That was the young Ashley Judd opposite Wesley in The game? She was a cutie even back then.

i always wait a few weeks for the crowds to slow down before i go to the theatre. i think when i saw that one it was in the afternoon during the school week. there was only one other person besides me there. i'm just surprised how strong the glue is holding shatner's toupee on.

to keep on topic. will wheaton geocaches? :)

That's glue from the future.

I was just doing a little search of my own. Ashley was only 19 when she did that part but I can't find a picture of her doing it anywhere. Oh well, I thought I'd be the big seacher king but no way.

How do you know he really caches? He's never showed up for any of my events.

according to his stats, he has found 9. none in a while though. :)

9's not a geocacher, that's a tadpole.

it's more than les has. i guess will doesn't worry about permission. everyone has to start somewhere.

Hey! Quit dissing Wesley! I always thought he was cute in a too young for me, geeky, nerdy type of way. I avoid the too young, but like nerdy/geeky guys!  :)

I wouldn't diss Wesley. Heck at his age if I were sitting at a table with Ashley Judd I wouldn't have been able to speak.

In fact at my age I couldn't still I'd imagine.

*edited because I can't type thinking about Ashley*
