+Halden Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 (edited) So I am casually reading the forums when I come across a mention about a bug sent to Wil Wheaton (Wesley from Star Trek). Now I knew he was a big Geek but also a Cacher that is great! Anyone ever run into him or know what his caching user ID is? Here are links to his site: Removed link because it got replaced by inappropriate content. Man! Picard doesn't Cache! Edited January 29, 2004 by Halden Quote
+Sparky-Watts Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I think it's something like Big Wil or Dancing Willy or something geeky..... Quote
tlg Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Well, if you really need to know, look at his page, follow the link to the cache he found on the 4th, then look at the logs to see who found it that day. Quote
+joefrog Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of his, but I loved the show. Think there wouldnt be a mad dash if he put out a cache with some show souveniers? Quote
+The Leprechauns Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Ahhh, GroundskeeperWillie. Glad to see he got back into the game with a find on January 4, his first in about a year. Markwell #1 Markwell #2 Markwell #3 Profile for GroundskeeperWillie Quote
+Dan-oh Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 It seems to be GroundskeeperWillie. Too funny. I've never made it up to Echo Mountain above Pasadena even though I visit family there often. No mistaking thats him from his gallery. Quote
+Sparky-Watts Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Odd that he hasn't yet picked up the bug that was sent to him........at least not on his profile/stats page. Snob. Quote
+Halden Posted January 28, 2004 Author Posted January 28, 2004 Wow he is even a Charter Member. Wesley is getting cooler every day. Quote
+Halden Posted January 28, 2004 Author Posted January 28, 2004 Hit add reply too soon Only 9 finds? I guess he either doesn't log his finds (wouldn't surprise me) or he has slowed down. Quote
+geoguyver Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 How nutty. When ST:TNG started I was about the same age as Wil Wheaton was, plus my first name is also Wesley. The other Wesley from TV was that little punk off of Mr. Belvedere. Oh well. Quote
CacheNCarryMA Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 How nutty. When ST:TNG started I was about the same age as Wil Wheaton was. I'll bet that, even today, you're still about the same age as Wil Wheaton! Quote

+Renegade Knight Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 What a great bunch of responses. No wonder the guy has so few logs, what with all the encouragment in here. Quote
+dino_hunters Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 No one said he had to use his real name. Actually I think its kinda cool. Quote
+Sparrowhawk Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 There is a cache inspired by a certain travel bug and Herr Wheaton himself. Quote

He's got pretty thick skin as evidenced by His website. Besides people have been pretty kind here considering the slag Wesley gets elsewhere on the web. I thought it was pretty cool that Wil Caches. ju66l3r Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 (edited) Two things... Wil Wheaton takes far more abuse online than anything put into text here at GC.com. He even commented before on how nice people were here. Markwell If you ever read over at slashdot, you'd see some of the great posts anonymous and semi-anonymous people make in response to Wil's posts. and... "Shut up, Wesley" is a line from Star Trek on this hilarious episode where Picard is busy but Wesley puts in his two cents and gets verbally abused for it. His mom also echoes the line... I figured someone you know must have said it before in that context...most "wesley"s get it in their lifetime. Welcome to the fold, you will be assimilated. It's just a joke. ju66l3r Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 (edited) It seems that someone has hijacked Wil's gallery page....it's too bad this is so low on the page now, but I would suggest the original poster (and anyone quoting the gallery link) should edit that out for now until he fixes it). GeoWorms Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 (edited) His personal site is Wil Wheaton. The TB that was sent to him was brought to him by another chacher (ie not the bug's owner) at a book signing and he autographed it. He likely didn't think to write down the tracking number to log the bug. EDIT:Ooops! Halden already included the homepage link. Edited January 29, 2004 by GeoWorms Quote
uperdooper Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Which movie is this? it wasn't one of the movies, it was a next generation episode. the one where riker brought back the game played with the "eyeware" that he got on vacation. everyone got hooked on it when they played it. the affect was like a drug.
