Snoogans Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I know of only one cacher older than my mom and he is a legend in Beaumont Tx. MommaFrog got her first two caches just 2 days before her 80th birthday! I don't think she'll be burning up the trails on her own. She really enjoyed it though. How many cachers are over 65? Quote
Mudfrog Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Hey Snoogans, I know that Beaumont man that you speak of. He was the person responsible for my addiction , but what a great thing to be addicted to! Thanks Peanuts!!! Quote

W7WT Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I am almost as old as Snoogans Mother. I will be 79 in April. After a day long hunt yesterday I now have 426. Up until last fall, I found most of these solo. I am a slow walker and sometimes it takes me three tries to find a cache. I was able to pick up 60 on a trip from Bremerton Washington to the East Coast which took three weeks. Most of these were easy rest stop caches or virtuals. Made the trip much more interesting. Lately I have been geocaching with Ajetpilot who is willing to slow down and also listen to all my "war stories". More enjoyable and efficent. I do my homework and carry a cell phone when caching solo. I would urge all interested seniors to get off their duff and enjoy geocaching. Dick, W7WT Quote
GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Yea Granny goes out Benchmarking with me ever once in a while she is 88. The cold weather has her in right now but we like hunting around them Old Ghost towns, dumps and relic shops. Helps me to keep her busy and out and about. Oh by the way she is in the process of making a hand sewn CITO QUILT. Even has a frog to go with it. Quote
woof n lulu Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 (edited) That is way to cool Trailblazer ! Active in benchmarking and quilting at 88 imagine that woof is 60 lulu is 55 Neither of us is likely to set land speed record for caching...but it gets us off our butts.... Last month some bimbo t-boned her Explorer an totaled it. She walked away, I saw her yesterday and she said her neck hurt a little but other than that she was Okay. What can you say about somebody who lived through the dust bowl, the great depression, and a world war. She does like her new Tarus, this is the first time she has ever had a car as a daily driver, she always had a truck, manual shift. Even after the joint replacments. Quote
