+Fireman78 Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 I am looking for a neck strap/harness type device that will hold my Meridian GPS in place, (around my neck), while hiking, so I can read and use the GPS, and basically let it dangle there, if I don't need it. Any suggestions? Quote
Captain Chaoss Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 I haven't seen anything "stock" like that, but my wifes sportrak came with a nice case. I think a neck lanyard like people carry their keys on would do the trick. Quote
+woof n lulu Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 I use a lanyard for my Megellan...it was one I already had, but I believe you can find them in the Groundspeak store at a reasonable price. Nice to have your hands free... Quote
+Confucius' Cat Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 how does it attach? Magellan platinum is just about the perfect cache finder, except they didn't think to add alanyard ring. Whazzup with that? Quote
Northern-Lights Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 I use a lanyard for my Megellan...it was one I already had, but I believe you can find them in the Groundspeak store at a reasonable price. Nice to have your hands free... I work at a retail store selling all kinds of GPS units and gadgets. I couldn't come up with an effective way of holding my Magellan Gold except in a pocket....that is if I had a pocket big enough. The idea of a lanyard struck me....I'd tried it before without success....but just maybe this time..... I looked around and found one of those rubber/plastic key ring things with the advertisement on it......and cut it in half to make the bottom square (the side with the split ring still attached). Then I used duct tape to tape it to the front of my Gold.... Hey, I know it doesn't look professional.....but after I'm done stomping through the mud, snow, whatever....I don't look professional either!! Anyway, it's about perfect for what I wanted...... Good luck... Quote
+cachew nut Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 (edited) There is at least one solution in the Meridian Yahoo groups that is basically a little eyelet that screws into the threaded hole. If I'm not mistaken, there are even some pictures posted there. Hope this helps. Edit:edit Edited January 25, 2004 by cachew nut Quote
