SBPhishy Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 Can a leg of a multi cache, which is not the final leg where the actual cache is, be closer than .10 mi. to another existing cache? The coordinates of this hidden leg are not published anywhere besides the previous leg of the multi, and of course to the approvers. Will they approve it? THanks Quote
+TeamK-9 Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 Legs of a multicache can be as close as you want them to be... Within reason of course.. Quote
+wildearth2001 Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 from my understanding none of the legs can be within .1 mile of any other cache or leg of another multi but the legs of the same multi can be closer to gether than that Quote
+flossmoor Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 The 528 foot rule, as I understand it, only applies to legs of your cache in relation to other caches or legs thereof. The one multicache I have thus far, the admin who approved it asked for all coordinates for all legs, and painstakingly plotted them in relation to existing caches (which I appreciate). However, I have visited multicaches recently where a leg of a multi either infringed on a preexisting cache, or was infringed upon by a new cache (one was only a few feet from one of the legs), so it appears some admins may not keep (or may not be able to keep) track of all this information. Which brings us to the inevitable "your mileage may vary". As I've been told, though, they are much more lenient with distance between legs of the same multi. To be certain, though, you may want to ask the admin within the state you are trying to get approval regarding the most up-to-date terms of their policies. Quote
SBPhishy Posted January 23, 2004 Author Posted January 23, 2004 Yeah, I'm only curious about my multi cache legs in relation to other already existing caches. Nothing to do with my own multi legs. Quote
+briansnat Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 If its a unique enough area, they may approve it. Say on the other side of a river, or bottom of a ravine (when the other cache is at the top), or a different park. Run it by your approver first, so you don't go through all that work only to have it rejected Quote
SBPhishy Posted January 23, 2004 Author Posted January 23, 2004 I don't think there is any chance in hell that these too coords could be confused. Mine is inside a tree, and the other is in a bush, off this trail on the ground. I knew where the other cache was, because I had found it before, but i didnt have the waypoint in my GPSr. To me, it didnt even seem like the other one was that close at all. How do I find who my approver is? Quote
+wildearth2001 Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 I believe your approver is SoCal Admin or something like that? Quote
SBPhishy Posted January 23, 2004 Author Posted January 23, 2004 Yeah, thanks a lot. I found it. I was just coming back into this forum to say that I figured it out. Thanks! Quote
