+rpecot
On Monday I took a sports editor from the Times-Picayune (in New Orleans) on a cache hunt. Here is the article he wrote after our trip. The reaction from local geocachers has been good. Everyone has enjoyed it. Work has been different. I don't know if I'll ever live down the 'geek' statement. Quote Link to comment
+Halden
Nice article. Must be kind of embarassing to have a DNF on the first hunt while being documented Don't worry about the Geek, I'm Geek and I'm Proud! Quote Link to comment
+southdeltan
I guess it could be embaressing - but I think it's good. You always have those people who don't understand GPSr technology that think if you have the waypoint it has to be easy to find the cache. 1 DNF and several finds shows that it's not totally easy. southdeltan Quote Link to comment
sarge76
nice article... now maybe 50 more geeks might join our sport! Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Nice article. Must be kind of embarassing to have a DNF on the first hunt while being documented Sure is. I had a DNF with a reporter and photographer in tow last year. I still get my chops busted about it Quote Link to comment
+The Divine Ones
What an excellent article. Thanks for posting it here. Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
I don't know if I'll ever live down the 'geek' statement. From the article: "I'm a geek," Pecot said, without blushing. What is there to live down? Being a geek is honorable. Thanks for the story! Quote Link to comment
+sept1c_tank
Cool! I liked the GPSr analogy; it's "...like Gore-Tex for the brain." Quote Link to comment

+rpecot
Must be kind of embarassing to have a DNF on the first hunt while being documented Yeah, I was kicking myself for that one. Bob was pretty cool about it though. He and his wife (who came along as well) were joking around saying "here are the coordinates to the bodies I left in the woods." I was really worried because the next one, Coal Pit, hadn't been found since June 2003. He really seemed to enjoy it. He even asked me to invite him to the next local event cache. +bitbrain
CWL and I are taking a reporter caching this weekend. My wife went out and hid a cache so that we'd have something new (that neither of us had found) to hunt. I'm afraid of what I might endure searching for this cache. She has a mean streak.
