Gpxsonar Stats Wizard V1.0 Beta Released!

GPXSonar Stats Wizard is a Windows application intented to automate the posting of stats to keenpeople.com at the push of a button!

How does it work? "GPXSonar Stats Wizard" makes use of Pocket Queries from www.geocaching.com referencing your finds and your hides. It crunches the numbers and posts the results to keenpeople.com automatically.

All the statistics are generated by state to give you the best granularity. All you need to do is to create one or more Pocket Queries from geocaching.com in GPX format and feed them to "GPXSonar Stats Wizard" once. Of course, you'll also need to create an account on keenpeople.com for the magic to happen.

You can download GPXSonar Stats Wizard here.

You feedback and comments are welcome.

Fabien.

i tried it, and it split up my finds by state like it should, but even though it shows my home state as PA, I don't show up on the state 'affiliation' leader list. I do show on the PA finds list.....

Also, my 'total' shown on the site is now about 30 finds lower than the number of finds in the PQ that I used. Which is also lower than my actual number of finds, but that's an unrelated problem :D

I'm glad that things are working for you :o

Make sure to add all the PQs that you need to get a full total... I'm still working on getting mine actually... and with the new quotas, it's been hard (I'm missing about 200 finds! right now :D )

Also, caches that have been archived won't show in the PQs (yet). Pretty soon, the app will let you add these manually though.

The PQ contains 199 finds, but keenpeople now only shows me as having 169.

Checked back, and now it's showing me on the "state affiliation" list with 199 finds, which would be right according to the PQ I used. The 169 is the number I have found in PA. Don't know why I dropped off the "affiliation" board temporarily, but all seems well now.

Now, if only we could get archived caches in PQ's.....

OK so what are you guys/gals doing that I couldn't get it to work? I put two different gpx files (mine finds and my own) into the program, put in my user name and password in the program but it shows blank on the web site? GEO is working on it but maybe there is something I did wrong in the mean time......

I did find one thing that even though I can't get it to work is that when it's done making the stats it brings up the web site but not in a new window. It closes the one you had going (which is in my case the Groundspeak forums). Oh well....

I've figured out what was wrong. It's a server-side bug actually.

Here's what I did to fix things: I've initialized you stats account using the web site interface by simply entering your location info. That caused the site to create the proper database records behing the scene. After that, there was no problem updating the newly created records from GPXSonar Stats Wiz.... :D

My server or yours or theirs? Ok who evers....ehehhe...

So not a bug in the program but a server problem. I can try it again now or since all the stats are there it won't update anything for the time being. Right?

Thanks.

I've just found a bug in the Pocket Queries Generator on the site B)

It turns out that that Pocket Queries don't produce consistent results depending on the criteria used to create them B) If you create a query containing ONLY your finds, the caches will not all be tagged properly as 'GeoCache Found'. Instead, only some of them, seemingly randomly, will be tagged as 'Found' while the majority will appear to be still 'Un-Found' caches. This problem does not exist when a query returns a mixed set of "Found" and "Unfound" caches.

I'm going to have to change the stats wizard to handle this quirk <_<

IV_Warrior... About the missing caches: keep in mind that Pocket Queries dont return archived/disabled caches that you've found (yet anyways). I just found that out the hard way on some of my stats.

Fabien.

How are disabled/archived caches handled, do they still show up in the PQs to get put into your program?

Disabled/archived caches don't show up in PQs. I've heard a rumor that this will change for queries containing just 'finds', but nothing more.

On my end, I'll have to change the stats wiz to include a 'fudge' factor so that the missing caches can be accounted for. I'll also include some "manual" overrides to bypass the problem of inconsistently formed PQs.

Geo,

I may be mistaken, but I think that web cam caches do not register as "found" in PQs. I've noticed for quite some time that when I load my GPX file for found caches into GPXSonar, all the finds are indeed listed, but there is no green check mark next to the web cam caches. I still have not done any locationless caches, but I wonder if they also don't show as "found."
