+Snideswipe Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Based on an optomistic weather report this morning, I loaded up in the trusty truck and went about the midwest in search of treasure. It was supposed to be 45 today, but we maxed out at 37 with lots of drizzle and a little sleet. I managed to pull off an astonishing feat: I did not cut off my leg, or even a toe. I found nine out of nine today , I'm feeling pretty good. How'd you all do? Quote
+RocketMan Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 It was 70 deg F here today. I was outside all day in a T-shirt, but I found no caches. I was doing yard work all day. Bummer Quote
+Johnnie Stalkers Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found none. I did however manage to post to numerous threads, dozens of times. I have offended, in theory, a countless number of fellow cachers and hopefully made at least that many chuckle once or twice. Was it worth my time you ask? Heck no. Should I have been caching? Heck yes. But I had some fun and managed sit on my butt all day. Cease the day, as long as its not today. Quote
+astheravenflies Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I had printed out a couple on the waterfront to do during an afternoon at city park and the beach. The boys were just having too much fun launching driftwood into the outgoing tide to interrupt that activity. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Maybe tomorrow. Quote
+wray_clan Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found no caches. Yet, I am vigorously enjoying my three-day weekend of which these forums are a large part of. Quote

+carleenp Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I'm a little more north of where you are now. Not that it is an excuse, but I only found one today (but a really cool one). I aimed for another, but the only safe place to pull the car in was a deep mud and icy water pit. I figured I would save that for a day when I was sure I could get the car back out! Quote
SBPhishy Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found 2 yesterday... but none today... maybe tomorrow... Quote
+jeff35080 Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found 5 today and 2 benchmark disks Happy caching! Quote
inventorjg Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 About 70 deg. weather, I found 2, one good, and one burnt, because of a contolled burning. Quote
+T10X Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 The forecast here was calling for freezing rain today, all day, so I went to a air pistol match instead, which I won thank you. One brave soul found one of my caches though, does that count? Quote
+carleenp Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 About 70 deg. weather Quit taunting us northerners! Quote
tlg Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found a quarter in the folds of my couch. But since it's not about the numbers, I didn't log it. Quote
Captain Chaoss Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Found three this afternoon. A balmy 14 degrees and snowing, so we were limited to two park & grabs, and one really awesomely hidden one. I want SO bad to show this one in the cool cache container thread, but we were only the 2nd ones to find it. Guess it will have to wait. Quote
+SamLowrey Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) I found only one. The thing is, I wasn't intending to attempt it today - just look at the location. But one thing led to another.... Edited January 18, 2004 by SamLowrey Quote
+briansnat Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) It was a balmy 25 degrees today. Great for a nice hike. I hadn't hidden a cache in a while and knew a great area for one, so I put in a 4 stage multi, over a 5 mile loop. Edited January 18, 2004 by briansnat Quote
+Snideswipe Posted January 18, 2004 Author Posted January 18, 2004 The latest news on Snideswipe's profile: I'm currently visiting my dear mother in Missouri. And my feet are very, very cold. I'm sorry. So, I've apparently got some sort of dreaded affliction which causes my feet to act as a heat sink. I'm constantly wandering around in slippers, even in Miami. This leads me to the things I'll do for warmth... Dear mother tosses me something that looks like an oversized polar fleece nightgown and tells me to pull it on. It's an odd shade of turquoise and turns out to be something of a sack, with little holes on the outside corners for your feet to poke through. An unusual idea, but I'm always game for an adventure. The holes at the bottom are a little snug, I suppose they're supposed to fit tightly around one's ankles. It's not as if I'm an Amazon woman, but as I stand upright and get ready to zip up the front, the sack rides up to just below my knees. I stand there momentarily, dazed, looking like a crazed, oxygen deprived penguin. I remained in that frightening outfit until half way through the night, when I woke up due to the lack of blood flow past my knees. At least I was warm! Does anybody have a pair of battery powered socks they want to send me? Quote

+Snideswipe Posted January 18, 2004 Author Posted January 18, 2004 There's no way I'd ever post pictures like that. I'd point you guys to the pics of me dressed up like a shower for Halloween, but not the penguin suit. Quote
+Krandor Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Got 5 today and I hope to try to grab 5 more tomorrow morning before the football games (of course they are calling for snow here tonight so I'll have to see what I can do tomorrow). Quote
Tahosa and Sons Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Lil Tahosa and I found 3 and one DNF. But the neat thing was the log that someone posted on the The Buck Hunt , which really made my day. Quote
+SerenityNow Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 It was 14 degrees here in Ohio when we started caching at 7:30 AM! We headed to PA at 5:30 AM and it stayed COLD all day long! It snowed like crazy too, but we had a great time anyway. We got 13 regular caches, 1 webcam, and 1 locationless for a total of 15! We are now home thawing out! Quote
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 We found 3 today but one was an event and of course it was the best cache of the day. But then again I started the day off in a dentist chair getting a root canel done so it was all gravy after that. Quote
+Snideswipe Posted January 18, 2004 Author Posted January 18, 2004 In lieu of the crazed penguin pic... Quote
WolfWalker Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I didn't find any today.....but that might be because my GPSr refuses to power on, so I had to send it back to the manufacturer for a new replacement unit. I can't wait to get my new one, there's a few new caches too! Quote
+Logscaler and Red Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 5 caches found. 240 miles driven. 9 hours outdoors. 1 lunch. Subway Turkey. Out of the house and away from work. Priceless. logscaler. Quote
+Mastifflover Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Just one but at night and in the snow. Quote
+Sparky-Watts Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I found 4 two days ago. Nothing but rain and drizzle and near freezing temps since then, so I've stayed home....except for today when I went out and test drove some new Jeep Wranglers. Think I might buy one. Maybe. Can't decide if I really want to give up my Camry. Well, I started on topic, anyway! Think I covered a couple other threads since the first sentence here. I'll go away now. Bye. Quote

It should be with "footies." No place for the feet to poke through! Quote
+haggaeus Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 One. Went to buy new hiking boots, stopped for a lunch at PopEye's, changed my sneakers for the boots there and went to find a cache in a nearby town park. Quote
+KiltCacher Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Only one today. It's been a slow week. Quote
+CacheTime Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 None today. We stayed out of the rain and enjoyed the fire. Quote
+dasein Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) Haven't cached in 2 weeks, feeling withdrawal. Last week the Portland (Oregon) area was incased in snow and freezing rain (not common, so the city pretty much shut down for a few days). Then my microbiology class started, and I have mandatory overtime at work for a few weeks. Today we went to the Humane Society and got a 4-mo female kitten to accompany our 21-mo male cat (yes, they're both fixed!). So far so good, but it's gonna take a while. Tomorrow I have to study BIGTIME, but we plan on going out to find one new cache not far from us. Next weekend we're going camping in the Central Oregon desert, and have WAY too many caches on our dockett. Can't wait! That should make up for the last couple of weeks! --laurak of dasein Edited January 18, 2004 by dasein Quote
+hedberg Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Found no cache - well, I wasn't looking for any caches either... But today (sunday) will I try to find some caches, and also hide 2 caches. Quote
+ironman114 Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 three out of six for saturday. Got muggled to death on the other three. Quote
+mozartman Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 None today, lots of chores to do, but 3 out of 4 yesterday! Quote
Deego Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 It was +2C here in Staffordshire (UK) I had 4 caches and 5 Trigpoints (UK benchmarks) planed managed them all and found a locationless on my travels . So 5 Caches and 5 Trigpoints Quote
mortonfox Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 8 yesterday in CT. Just some walking around in the snow. None today as it is still snowing and the roads are slick. Quote
+FSU*Noles Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Oh sure, rub it in, we did NONE today. We're working overseas, and the plan was to be done by noon. Then, a quick roadtrip to Aachen, Germany - maybe an hour from where we are in Belgium. I had already picked out caches in Belgium, Holland, and Germany for the latter half of the day- but alas, we're still working and we only have maybe 30 minutes of daylight left, so nothing for us today. <sigh> Quote
