AmishHacker
Just like the topic states.....can we place to many caches .....loose some of the challange? Quote Link to comment
TeamK-9
Well, if we keep building walmarts at the rate we are, then there won't be forests and the caches will all be microcaches in one giant huge, international parking lot. On a more serious note, yeah, we can place to many caches... Quote Link to comment
GeckoGeek
Just like the topic states.....can we place to many caches .....loose some of the challange? Well, given there is a fixed quantity of land area, and a minimum as to how closely two caches can be placed, there logically exists a maximum number of caches, but I'm too lazy to calculate that number. But I'm sure the thrill will disappear long before we get to that number. Quote Link to comment
Cache Viking
It depends on where you are. Here there are not many and you have to drive a bit. Now 120 miles south of me where my parents live they are just about everywhere. Quote Link to comment
hedberg
On a Swedish forum (not here at geocaching.com) did we some math a while ago on how long time it should take before the whole Sweden was covered with film canister and tupperware boxes... It should take very long time... I think that even if I placed 1000 caches every day should I not manage to fill the country during my lifetime. Quote Link to comment

wray_clan
I think that we can place too many caches only when muggles go extinct. Quote Link to comment
seneca
Well take your country: The U.S. has 3,537,438 total square miles - the rules allow 100 caches per square mile so you could have 353,743,800 caches. Sounds like a lot. But if geocaching became so popular that 15% of the people in the U.S. took it up, and over time hid 8 caches each - then all of the allowable space would be used up. (by the way - if half of those players became premium members Jeremy would have annual revenues of more than 1.2 billion dollars. He's such a nice guy, isn't he. ) Quote Link to comment
hedberg
Have you thought about all those multicaches that requires several locations? Have you also thought about the water, not so many caches are hidden in the rivers and lakes? But at the same time, how many caches will be archived also? Quote Link to comment

hedberg
Btw, when EGNOS/WAAS will be active all over the world, will there still be a need of having 161 meters/528 feet/0.1 mile (?) distance between every cache? It seems that the main reason for having the distance between caches are that you shall not find cache B while looking for cache A. But how many times are you around 161 meters/528 feet/0.1 mile off searching for a cachce???????? Quote Link to comment
carleenp
Whoa, Seneca changed his avatar. I was too busy hiding in the corner to notice until now! I guess Seneca goes against the reason why math idiots go into law! Quote Link to comment

WeightMan
I just had to weigh in on this topic given the sub head, but I'm just not sure what I want to say about it. It will be a long time before this happens so why worry about and just go caching Quote Link to comment
Og's outfit
I'm a firm believer in MANI-CACHE DESTINY. And I plan on voting that ticket. OG Quote Link to comment
ICQ Cache Crew
We are desperately trying to add more caches to our area. One town has several.. but the surrounding area is like barren. Quote Link to comment

fizzymagic
I did my part and removed and archived one of mine today. I hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
mozartman
Just using my own area as an example, I'd say probably not. the archive rate is pretty high. 3 or 4 of the caches I hunted 6 or 8 months ago are already archived, and I noticed many more that I didn't hunt for then are already gone! There will always be old caches being archived and new ones being added at what seems to be a pretty even ratio. Quote Link to comment
mortonfox
As long as older and/or plundered caches keep getting archived, there should be no problem. Quote Link to comment
aka Monkey
I think stayfloopy hit the nail on the head. If an area becomes rife with caches, chances are some of them will be found be geomuggles, and a few of those will be plundered and destroyed. Natural selection in action. Quote Link to comment
