The local service centre won't seel me the individual piece -- the rubber moulding that goes around my yellow etrex -- and will only include it as part of an $80 service package (and he was so insistant on the guaranteed part of the work, sonuds like a marketing thing. ) Anyone in Canada, preferably eastern Ontario or Quebec, have a gps junkpile? +vds Posted January 20, 2004 Share Posted January 20, 2004 I think it's $50 US to send it back. Mine got the glue-slime disease and I repaired it with black scuba diver suit repair glue, but must have done something to the contacts, it won't download any more. Doh ! Quote Link to comment
+vds Posted January 21, 2004 Share Posted January 21, 2004 whew....took the rubber band totally off, removed the top layer of the tape and the rubber cement came with it, fiddled with the contacts area with a sewing needle to pry everything out, and it loads again. Guess I'll have to try the double-sided tape path, maybe I can defer repairing/replacing the unit for a while... Quote Link to comment
