Some (not all...rather, not most) have a policy on Geocaching. Depending on your park managers, they might want you to ask permission or get a permit to place one. The permit would have your contact information in the event that the cache needs to be moved. I would check with your park manager and ask if they've heard of Geocaching. If so, find out what their policy is. If not, you get the job of explaining it to them. Geocaching really has no more impact than hiking does, so if they're willing to listen then you've got a good shot.

 

Some park managers will say "no" just because they have never heard of it. It's the safest (and easiest) way for them to do their job without getting in trouble from the superintendent that manages the entire state.
