+RockyRiver
I would book a party room lets say on HWY 29 around University place. I think that way with the Interstate the people of Concord and Charlotte would have easy access. I dont know if it cost any extra to book a banquet room or party room at a restarant, but I would pay for it upfront and then pass a hat if anyone wants to help out. Just bring your money for eating if times are tough, this is my contribution to the future club. If interested email me at rodneymoore@mindspring.com . I am making a list, I will say for now the meeting will be a Sunday evening (7:00P.M.) in the future a month from now or so. Please make your name on the email and info look like this so I can copy and paste. Real Name: Pen Name (Alias): Email: Phone: Edited January 13, 2004 by RockyRiver Quote Link to comment

+9Key
I agree with TeamX40 - this type of info should be dealt with once a forum or web site has been set up. DO NOT post such info here or anywhere on the web! Quote Link to comment

I do not want them to post there name here on the fourm, I want them to email it to me. I am sorry for any confusion I may have made in my post. I do feel If you are starting a club you need to be able to talk by phone sometimes to people to get them togeather. What if there computer breaks? There server is down? What if they don't check there email regularly? I will try to get this club or group, or meeting of fellow geocachers arranged the best way I know how, and I am open for suggestions. I just ask please work with me not against me. Thanks Quote Link to comment

+BlueDeuce
No problem, I thought I asked a fair question considering there was some misunderstandings as to what you were asking for. I completely agree there are difficulties in starting a new group. Here in Eastern Iowa we are starting one and we are just getting past the problems of finding a place to meet and a time when everyone can make it. I highly recommend that the initial gathering be in a very public place and post the meeting on-line, such as submitting a event cache, maybe at a local coffee house. This solves several problems. Some people do not read the forums, but they can still find a new cache in their area. There are no costs to the person organizing the event and people can still meet even if the organizer suddenly can't make it. People who do not want to provide personal data still need meeting information and people who only find the event at the last moment can get all the meeting information. Also the organizer does not have to manage the event by emailing or calling people with updates. Way too much work in my opinion! Even if everything falls through and computers crash, at least the people who show up can still get a refreshment. It took us Iowa folks about four planning sessions before we actually met and several people still couldn't make it. (Which means they had Events without me ) I also recommend that no one meet with anyone in a private location that they have only met on-line. Once people have a chance to meet others they can make their own decision to give personal information. Good Luck! Edited January 14, 2004 by TeamX40 Quote Link to comment

It will be a public restarant. If I have everyones email and phone, if lets say the meeting place of choice falls thru (The Restarant calls me I reservered the party room in and says it must cancel, I can make the neccessary calls to redirect the members to another public Restarant). I am not trying to sale vinyl siding or anything here but start a club for the benefit of people interested in Geocaching and GPS's. I guess everyone this day and time are leary of people and the evils they think they may do. I say pick a place where this can't happen. Even the local Mickey D's won't likely close their tables. Save yourself the headache of managing last minute problems! Just trying to give a bit of advice and now I will step away and let you and the local cachers work out the details. Quote Link to comment
+Ltljon
We attended this cache event in your area a couple years ago & it was a great success. Nice park & a fun challenge. Maybe some of these local folks would come out of "retirement" & give you a few pointers. Great bunch down there. An event cache is probably the best way to get the word out & you can always change the date to suit everyones needs. Good Luck! Quote Link to comment
