+binobo
Is there a good site to go to to get GPS coordinates from a map. Say I want to go to a particular spot in South west Utah. I pull up a map, pinpoint a local, and the map reads out coords.Anyone know of any? Quote Link to comment
+Poindexter
Try www.mapsonus.com After you've zoomed in and are ready to click on a point to get the location, first click on the "Map-Clicking will:" drop-down box (right side, under the map) and select "Show Long/Lat" Then after clicking on the map, it will show the lat/lon in decimal format. Be advised these coordinates are in NAD27 datum for the lower 48 states. Poindexter Edited January 3, 2004 by Poindexter Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
The GPS manufacturer's mapping programs will do that for you and allow you to transfer the waypoint into you GPS. If you have a mapping GPS you'll also be able to transfer the map into the GPS. ALan Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Lostoutdoors.com. If you have approximate coordinates, you can pull up a topo map or satellite image, click on it and get the coordinates from where you clicked. In put takes format of decimal degrees and degrees/decimnal minutes AND Degrees/minutes/decimal seconds. Quote Link to comment

gm100guy
As you know the gps is only a tool to make life easier in the outdooors. When going out you should always have a map and compass for back-up. All you need is your paper topo map and a roamer that has the utm on it with the right scale for your map and you can get your own coordinates and input them into the gps. Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
Purchase National Geographics TOPO, it will just about do everything for maps that you dreamed about. Quote Link to comment
