+SeaTrout
I bought 4 AA Digipower 2300mah nimhs from CompUsa for for my yellow E-trex and digicam. The batteries are a little longer and larger in Dia. My yellow E-trex cover would not lock. I will use them in my camera, but be aware that the larger capacity batteries may not fit.The longer length may also make the contacts less reliable when using standard size AA's. +Johnnie Stalkers
Wow, thats funny. I just bought a set of Rayovac Ultra Nimh. I usually have to use something to pry the AAs out of my GPSr, but the Rayovac rechargables slip in and out easily. Maybe you should try a different brand of Nimh? Quote Link to comment
+Harrald
Maybe you could cross post this to the GPS Units and Software forum. You'll find a lot of forum users that only read and post there that could help you out. I'll be following the thread closely. I was thinking about buying 10-14 of them for all my AA battery needs. BassoonPilot
Original post content deleted. I thought someone might appreciate the information that previously appeared here regarding my experience with NIMH batteries and chargers, but "never mind." +Johnnie Stalkers
We have not fully tested the Rayovacs yet, but yesterday they kept the GPSr running for 6 straight Sat tracking hours. Volt meter still at 3/4. Think I am gonna like this! Quote Link to comment
+SeaTrout
I did not want help. I was sharing with the forum that not all high capacity AA's will fit all electronic devices. I thought that there was a industry standard size and only the chemical composition was changed to increase capacity.I will keep them, but would have been unhappy if I paid a high shipping charge and was unable to use them. +SeaTrout
My thread is not soiled I just did not want people spending effort trying to solve a non-problem. I am interested in the discussion of different battery brands and capacities. Seatrout Quote Link to comment

No, there hasn't been any real breakthoughs in, for example, alkaline batteries, in a long time. Battery makers have extended the power capabilities by making the battery casing thinner and thinner, and pushing the envelope of size standards. The 2300mh NiMHs I use are a very snug fit in my Vista, which is okay with me. I don't have to worry about the batteries losing contact if I have it attached to my bike. +HartClimbs
I actually have the opposite problem. My MiMH batteries are slighly smaller than the alkalines. What this means is when the GPS is jostled, the batteries lose contact and the unit shuts off. Others have mentioned this problem before and I only see if when I use the NIMH instead of the Alkalines. Maybe I need to find some fatter NIMH batteries! Quote Link to comment
+SBPhishy
i have the newer Radio Shack NIMH batteries that take only 15 minutes to charge. I think they are 2000mAh. They work great and last a VERY long time in my gps and my digital camera. They seem to fit just the same as other batteries and they really do only take 15 minutes to charge. Quote Link to comment

Neo_Geo
You're soiling another thread, SeaTrout . Sometimes threads take on a life of their own . It's best to let them live the life they desire. Seems a shame to try to kill a thread which you gave birth to... Quote Link to comment
