Top Ten Things I Like About Winter Geocaching

10) Less interference from the tree canopy. :)

9) There's no reason to make a lot of noise when you're

hiking in bear or rattlesnake country. :D

8) No DEET. :D

7) You can find a cache a week after it was posted, and

still have a chance at being the FTF. Well 2TF, if you

live near GaiterMan. :P

6) You're not as likely to get your jeep stuck in the mud

when you take it off-off-road. :D

5) The hornets are a lot slower. B)

4) You don't need a boat for level 5 water caches (just an

ice-saw, and a dry suit). :D

3) Fewer geo-muggles.

2) You can use your hiking staff for hiking, instead of

constantly waving it in front of you to knock down

all the spider webs. :D

And the number one thing I like about winter caching:

1) Hypothermia is a less painful way to go than heat-stroke! :D

Fire and Ice by Robert Frost

SOME say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To know that for destruction ice Is also great

And would suffice.

It looks as though Frost might disagree with #1

I got a new Garmin Legend for Christmas and was going to hit a few caches to breeak it in, but in the last 24 hours we've gotten about 18 inches of snow (yay! ), and they're predicting more snow through tuesday. So it'll probably be a few days before I can test my GPS, at least until it stops snowing long enough to allow me to get a possitive satellite lock.

My vote....#1  We in AZ are happy its not 112!

Yeah, 105 is much better...

But it's a dry heat!

Yeah, and so is sticking your head in an oven! B)B)

What would you know about heat, you live in Kansas of all places!

BTW, my Grandmother was from Goodland, KS B)

Oh, we get plenty of heat here.....string upon string of 100 plus days, and 80% humidity to go with it.

Goodland? Ha, the worst name for a town when it comes to weather! When the rest of the state is sunny and warm, Goodland is cold and rainy. When everyone else has snow, it's 60 and sunny there.

The way most people see it around here is that Goodland gets the worst first, and the best after the rest.

Good thing she moved to California before my Mom was born
