I found on E-bay

"DESCRIPTION: For sale in a brand new factory-sealed package is one copy of DeLorme's Regional TOPO - Version 4.0 from an authorized DeLorme retailer. This award-winning CD-ROM set contains detailed topographic maps for an entire region at 15 zoom levels. A feature-rich software interface will enable you to create custom maps for your purpose.

These maps are more detailed than the USGS 1:24,000 scale maps (1:24,000 is zoom level 12 and there are three more closer zooms). In addition, the maps in DeLorme Topo Regional have much better road and trail identification than USGS provides. "

Is DeLorme's Regional TOPO - Version 4.0 better than 1:24,000?

I have the older DeLorme 2.0 version and have found that it generally is more accurate than the usgs map. I think they used radar imaging to create the topos. I know several area that that aren't right on usgs maps. one usgs map shows a road as descending in altitude but delorme show increasing altitude. a level shows that the correct map is delorme with a rise of about 30 feet. another error shows a what appears to be a level usgs road. delorme shows a drop of about 175 feet. it looks to be more like 280 feet approximating visual. even with that old delorme, i seem to have better results with it.
