Keith Watson Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 I am going to start compiling Top 10 Lists ala David Letterman style. Please send me your suggestions and I will post the compiled list. I hope to have one list per week. The first topic will be “Worst Excuses For Not Finding A Cache”. Send me your suggestions for the list and suggestions for new list topics.
parkrrrr Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 I nominate Spent too much time making duplicate posts to the forums, and it got dark.
Keith Watson Posted December 23, 2003 Author Posted December 23, 2003 The reason I posted this thread is to compile the lists and post them. I am not going to just take peoples posts with out them knowing.
parkrrrr Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Not to be curmudgeonly about it, but where are you going to put these lists? If you're going to post them to the forums, have you considered trying to determine whether there's some demand for them?
Keith Watson Posted December 23, 2003 Author Posted December 23, 2003 I have a SCUBA Top 10 List section on my web page that I strated a few years ago when people started sending my lists. I wanted to start the same thing for geocaching lists. I asume there will be a demand considering people are posting to a thread on this forum http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=60706
Captain Chaoss Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Not to be curmudgeonly about it, but where are you going to put these lists? If you're going to post them to the forums, have you considered trying to determine whether there's some demand for them? Gimmee a break ! If there had to be a "demand" for stuff to be posted, then there'd be a small fraction of the posts currently displayed here. Go for it, Top Ten lists rule. Do you want these to be actual reasons left, or humorous, made up lame excuses ?
Keith Watson Posted December 23, 2003 Author Posted December 23, 2003 Send me what ever you want, as long as it fits the topic.
AslCacher Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 First of all I would like to know if everyone always log a visit to a cache if they don't find it? How about one of these. It was getting dark outside. I was hungry and needed to go eat anyway. My wife finished reading her book and I had to take her home.
wray_clan Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Eh....I'll try: The Silicon Valley Bowl was on There wasn't a trail Chirstmas shopping I want a 10/1 post/find ratio
Team GPSaxophone Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Add this to your list: The wife took the GPSr away!

parkrrrr Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Gimmee a break ! If there had to be a "demand" for stuff to be posted, then there'd be a small fraction of the posts currently displayed here. You say that like it's a bad thing.
Doc-Dean Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Who's got time for geocaching when there are over 100 posts a day from Team GPSaxophone to read...
Team GPSaxophone Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Who's got time for geocaching when there are over 100 posts a day from Team GPSaxophone to read... Tell the wife not to hide the GPSr and I'll go out caching instead! Actually, I can still hit 100 posts and cache in the same day...
wray_clan Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Y'know, I should really get going, I have more important things to do riiiiight

Dinoprophet Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 (edited) Found an old camouflaged ammo can, but no cache (such logs by newbies are known to exist) I went after dark without a flashlight (I really did that) Edited December 24, 2003 by Dinoprophet
Runaround Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 I'll let you summarize this for Top Ten list brevity. My favorite DNF was a new cachers first hide. I saw the new listing and went to look for the cache but couldn't find it anywhere. I did find one good hiding spot but it was empty so I got home and posted my DNF. 3 others posted DNF's over a few day span. As it turned out, the cache page went active faster than the cache owner thought it would and they hadn't gotten out to actually hide the container.
Keith Watson Posted December 27, 2003 Author Posted December 27, 2003 Thanks for your responses, I will post when the list is up. This thread can now be closed.
cachew nut Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 There were no parking coordinates given
Sparky-Watts Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 Thanks for your responses, I will post when the list is up. This thread can now be closed. You have the power to close the thread. Look down there in the lower left corner under "Moderating Options".
GO West Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 Don't close the thread! You also asked for suggested top 10's: Top 10 reasons to go caching: 10. Seahawks really awful today... decided to get off the couch and knock a cache off my closest-to list... Concerning best excuses, I wanted to log this once (but never actually did): "I went searching after work in my suit & tie, but had no idea there would be so much seagull mess on this dock."
