What did you get your warning for?

Here is a thread where you can repent your sins and maybe, just maybe your warning meter will go down.

I got a warning for double posting & and then not talking nice about an Admin.

I promise to be good. I will even write it out 50 times.

I will not double post or say not nice things about an Admin. again.

personally I think the warn meter is kind of childish as bobkat alludes to. Just curious too but is having a 20% warn level any different from say an 80%?

Thanks, but I left that behind in grade school.

I wiped out my 10% by making meaningful posts and helping out others...

I think thats a better idea than cutting and pasting 50 times, but hey that's me...

I would be interested in hearing of how others have wiped out their warnings...

I sphereheaded getting the California Geocoin designed and produced. This Geocoins is just going to be another avenue for Geocaching.com to get recognized (though that is not why I did it). I just wanted to celebrate Geocaching in California. You would think that is a good deed (but that's where I got my warnings for - posting the Geocoin was available for sale (at cost). Which by the way it still is.

Amazing as it may be I have not been warned, yet. I attribute this to the enormous amounts of sucking up I do in PM following each and every post I make. I am sure I am on someones watch list. I get an eering feeling that further posting in this thread will be a turning point. Almost bitter-sweet. To post or not to post, that is the question.

Still working on getting warned the first time apparently. Uh, will I get warned for getting off topic? Just messing around. I would think getting your warning level down is like getting out of trouble with your sig. other. Candy, flowers, or new tools. Somthing like that maybe?

Its only different if you think is it. If your posting things you know will get you a warning on purpose, then you likely don't care about your percentage. If you got slapped for something that in hindsight you shouldn't have done, then the percentage matters very much, and you'll do better to 'be good' in the furture.

To say on topic, I'm personally still I a goose egg (O%)

Being nice to newbies doesn't seem to pull off points either since I've always answered newbie questions where I could.

Jeremy dropped my warn meter back to 0% for making an "excellent play on words" in some thread, somewhere. I didn't even notice it for a few days. Incidently, I got my 10% warn by CO Admin for insulting Jeremy. Odd, isn't it? Oh, well....so far I've managed to keep it at 0%, but tomorrow's always another day, right?

Sorry, Grizzly, it's not technically feasible at such a large scale that would be necessary in this forum. Especially if it were going to last.

I think a warn% leaderboard would be cool. But maybe that's just because I know I may be number 2 on it. ;-)

Yes you can get banned at 10%. You can get banned at 0% for that matter. If you come into the forums and start cussing, etc., then you will be banned immediately. There is nothing inconsistant about that at all. If you are warned repeatedly then you can be banned at any warning level depending on the severity of the infractions. They are there for a history so other moderators will know what has gone on in the past and so they can make a judgement about the next step in the warning process (no moderation of post but a warning, moderation of post for a couple of days, or banning for a specific time).

Doc-Dean is exactly right with his post regarding wiping out his 10% and hits the nail on the head.

But one day it just showed up missing.

No explanation.

I guess friends just come and go.

For me, personally, the presence of the warning bars has made it less likely that I will be polite to other posters. Being treated as a child always brings out my childish side. I suspect it does for many others, too.

I've never gotten a warning. Although I deserved one last week, but mtn-man must have been in the holiday spirit. CO and KA where no where to be found at the time, so I got lucky. Thanks mtn-man for patiently explaining my wrongdoing.

LOL! Not particularly! I was just so shocked by the pink bunny, it doesn't fit my world view of RN! Not that I really know what my world view of him is. And now I suppose that view is evolving. Ack, I sound totally off the wall here.....!

I didn't get an increase in my warning meter, but I did get a post deleted because it said I'M RADMAN and didn't fit with the post. I was warned not to do it again and not to be taken personally. But since I am an egomaniac who takes any action against me personally, I've decided to stay away from the forums for a while. I am now taking my weird antics elsewhere where idiots like me are more appreciated. I walked past the door and it hit me as I was going out, thus furthering my rage!

I haven't been warned so I'm still at 0%. I don't tend to be very controversial here so I suspect that it will stay there unless the Admins. start warning about boring or lame posts.

Here's a question: Since several people have had thier warnings reduced as the result of meritorious deeds is it possible for me (or others at 0%) to get in on the reductions and have the warning meter register in the negative?

That way we could "bank" some of the warnings. Why should the miscreants get rewarded for thier good deeds with a reduction in thier warnings while the rest of us goody two shoes get nothing?
